Yeah but its not so black and white the whole adjust for inflation thing,back in the day when Gone With the Wind was playing it was the only movie you could see,each city had 1 movie theatre and 1 screen so if you wanted to see something it had to be that one movie,that one movie was your only option for the period of time until the theatre got another film,as of today its the opposite with 15-30 films at a time fighting for your money as well as other forms of entertainment(DVD,cable yada yada yada)
Also in those days if you didn't watch Gone with the Wind at the theatre than you would be thinking that you would never get the chance to see it(in todays world you can watch a new movie like a few months away on demand etc etc and don't have to worry about missing the chance)
So many more factors too such as the fact the population in America for example has more than doubled since Gone with the Wind days,can't be bothered going on anymore though lol.
