Aussie Rules has been around for a little while here in the states. Not quite the standard of AFL or even VFL, but some of the ex-pats like it well enough I guess.

I have been to the USAFL national championship. The standard of play was around the level of a bad country reserve grade game, and most of the players seemed to use the trip as an excuse for a party. The players seemed to be mostly ex-pats, and I didn't see any spectators who didn't seem to be related to the players in one way or another.

The AFL has been paying to have their game on US TV for decades, and they still only get ex-pat Victorians showing interest.

If there is a lesson to be learnt, it's that the AMNRL has to be as American as it can be, because American like to follow their own.

Their website is better than the AMNRL.
You can window dress the front of a shop all you want, but still have a crap product inside.
Most of those OS AFL sites are run by EXpat AFL fanatics who talk up how great things are ,how player numbers are exploding etc...reality is far different.
Go to world footy news & have a look at some of the pics.

Bloody hell. AFL must be the most awkward sport to play for fun. First you'd need to find a patch of grass as large as an airplane hangar, then you'd have to find adequate numbers (no 3 on 3 would ever suffice). Pick up AFL game? Good one. No wonder they invented that "markers up" sh*te.
