Useless Bit of Trivia for Those Going to the Broncos Game

The South West Corner of Queensland will be well represented during the game on Sunday. Stuart Kelly, Darren Lockyer and Ryan McGoldrick all cut their teeth playing rugby league in the Wandoan/ Taroom area. Lockyer and McGoldrick (as well as Kirk Reynoldson from the Melbourne Storm) all, at one stage, attended the same primary school -- Wandoan State School. Wandoan is a tiny dot of a town (population less than 500) to the north west of Miles -- out with the atlas kids ;-) ). Stuart Kelly hails from Taroom -- 'just up the road' from Wandoan (population -- couple more than Wandoan). John Plath -- former Bronco -- is also an ex Wandoan State School student.

Many expert judges (well only one really ) attribute the phenomenal strike rate of NRL players from the one tiny western school to the influence of the school Principal at the time.

BTW, while we are on the subject of McGoldrick. He has turned his early season form around and is clearly the best choice at left centre now. His defense, which I saw as his major deficiency, has improved remarkably. Let's hope he can take care of the Broncos speed men. ;-)

McGoldrick is in great form now. His attack has also improved greatly. I think hes now settled in

Wow that's a lot of NRL players from a small town.

I must admit I have never been a McGoldrick fan since he joined the club but he has improved on his performance every week and keeps getting better and better.
