Pvl needs to step back and let abdo do the talking

His public presentation skills are gash
He can get away with it though can`t he, because he`s certainly not all talk.
Mixed bag I suppose for being the public face of the game though I suppose, certainly not very urbane, but hey he`s Rugby League and that scruffy appearance and can-do is what sets him apart from the knobs that run other sports.
Look at it this way, he`s our Rugby League version of that 70`s Tv detective Colombo. LOL.

Abdo comes across as quite professional & his presentation is better then Saint-Pete for sure. But I don't think he is the one for strategic negotiations. Specialist required.

That interview with Fox and friends was awful

And his suits always look messy lol

Abdo is a smooth talker

Can’t see Pvl giving up the limelight he loves too much

He’s earned it to be fair even if his delivery can be wooden

EXPANSION

Rugby league’s plan to expand to 18 teams has won the tick of approval from the coaches, but they remain split on whether the game has enough players to support a 20-team competition.
News Corp’s annual survey of coaches and assistant coaches in the NRL has revealed that 70 per cent of coaches believe the game can accommodate 18 teams.

However, that number dips dramatically when it comes to the addition of another two teams, as has been mooted in rugby league circles amid the ARL Commission’s plans to expand the competition.

The majority of coaches – 52 per cent – believe there are not enough players to support expansion to a 20-team competition.

The NRL has already announced that Papua New Guinea will enter the NRL in 2028 after striking a $600 million deal with the federal government.

The NRL has also been locked in talks with the West Australian government over adding a team in Perth, which would carry the ‘Bears’ moniker.

A handful of consortiums from New Zealand have put their hand up to join the competition as well, along with the Brisbane Firehawks.

The NRL has parked talks with the WA government over a Perth franchise until the state election has been decided.

After the election, talks are expected to heat up again as the NRL looks to expand to 20 teams over the next decade.

If they head down that path, the coaches have raised concerns over whether the playing depth is there to support the additional teams.

The coaches also claimed that grassroots was the biggest issue in the game along with player managers. The NRL has conducted a review of their pathways program as they look to resolve some of the issues and ensure there is a pipeline of players into the NRL.

There are enough players. Just need to spread all the best ones evenly so there's less 50-point blowouts like the last time they had 20 clubs.
every year that passes there's going to be surplus too. has to be because the overall growth is increasing (by nrl's very own data & metrics).

you got clubs in nsw and qld not in active nrl grade producing and pumping out talent.

sports science is increasing chances that a young athlete will transition into adult athlete with right pathways in place. thats key, pathways. suddenly having it done correctly and built to withstand test of time becomes ever important and a price tag of $12m a year for a decade isn't far fetched. makes 100% sense.

by 2028 there will be a 2%-4% increase from 2024/25 in kids looking ready to make the leap into grade. by 2032 there would have been a 8%-9% increase from 2024/25. expansion will stimulate further growth of player pool resourcing as well. it's all synced. i think too many people getting bogged down with data from right now and aren't necessarily thinking of where data will estimated to be at by the time we actually need to rely on it.

If you had 12 nrl teams you would still have those that would have an awful roster

Dolphins been around for 3 years got a good roster

And most nrl clubs don’t even focus or invest in their juniors properly
