Yeah half, they've taken a couple of good one's off us (Ryan, Tonga) so it would be nice to get one back. Although we did get the big 4 back in 97 but damn that was a very long time ago...

Why waste big money on Utai when we have Grothe, Burt, Anderson, Williams, Graham as well as a few other youngsters that could be blooded there? I supose you could also add bloody Dykes to that list as well as he is always running over the sideline! Wing is not our major problem as the current inside backs ensure the ball hardly ever gets out that far anyway. I'll be mighty peeved if we waste valuable resources on Utai who will add nothing to our performances.

Colonel, looking into my crystal ball I see our future centre pairing being 3. Smith & 4. Graham :-k I think we're a bit thin on wingers though, particularly classy ones. Utai, although short in stature, is a one man wrecking ball and it would be quite exciting to have 2 powerhouse wingers in Grothe & Utai tearing it up out wide.

Either way, one thing is for sure, our right side centre/wing pairing is in need of major life saving surgery. Whether it be a classy right centre or wing, we need to inject some real talent out there. It would be nice if it could come from within our own ranks (Anderson & Smith perhaps) but ideally you'd like to pair up a young up and comer with an experienced classy first grader. I guess alot depends on how the Lyon saga eventually pans out as well...

I don't know about being thin as such. We have untried players in that position along with Grothe and Burt (without forgetting Petersen, Kativerata). A backline consisting of Grothe, Smith, Graham and Burt would be very appealing as well as throwing in any one of the youngsters. Harris however is potentially a long term rep player and impressive in defence - and depending on the Lyon saga and its outcome I wouldn't mind seeing us pinch one back off the Dogs. We can then pair one of our young blokes with him.....

Whats everyone bitching about? where are all these great Jr's we have? how come there not playing 1st grade if there SOOOO great.

Anyway Utai would be a gun signing i really hope we can snap him up.

He is better then Petersen,Kaptaiva and Grothe comined.

Point taken re Harris but if i'm not mistaken he was signed to a long term deal with the Dogs last year wasn't he?

I wouldn't even consider Kativerata or Petersen as options on the wing. Burt yes, but the other two are simply not up to scratch. This IMHO has been a major reason for our slump over the past 2.5 years. We've persisted with players who are second rate at best. We need classy first graders in all positions if we are seriously going to compete with the likes of the Roosters, Dogs, Panthers & Broncos. If not, we'll have to just settle for being one of those other clubs that aims to scrape into the top 8 each year and consider this a major success :?

I'm hoping the likes of Anderson & Smith can fulfill their potential in first grade but we haven't even seen these guys play a fist grade game yet. I think the club needs to make some seriously tough decisions in the next month or so with regards to player retention and recruitment. I know there's a few players I'd be telling to test the market...

Waiting for the coach to give them a chance.

The only difficulty I have with Utai being signed his his attitude. There have been a few coaches talk of this and he has been dropped from the NZ side because of it. If he has the right attitude then bring him on though the last thing we need is another attitude in the club.

I think Grothe and Utai are on a similar par. Both strong players able to steam roll opposition however they are prone to letting a few mistakes creep in when they get tired.
