I cannot believe I am saying this but I think Vella may surprise a few people next year. Its a contract year for him and the players we have bought will only help him. He seems to go well in a winning team with a dominant forward pack/good dummy halves, which we now have (AKA 2001). He however struggles when he is the one that should be leading and setting an example.

It would be nice to see him regain some of that form.

I actually thought he had some of his better games when he was in a more leadarship role. Not so much last season but more so 2003.

Vella in 03 against the Cowboys when we were 22 nil down. He lead that comback to eventually win it for us with those hit ups. His a great player on his day. When he plays around other props playing well he notches up his game to make himself better and thats where he really shines.
