Velvet Revolver...

Its a sign of the times, when things like Soundwave get snapped up straight away whilst there are plenty of tix available for the VR/KISS concerts. No Ace, no real kiss... fair enough, but with Slash and Duff in VR come on, that should be enough of a draw....

Yep, I have to agree Mr Fahrenheit.

The crowds seem to have settled for mediocrity these days ...

lol... I'm sure if people knew they where coming out, they'd sell a few more. Weren't they meant to have a few shows around Oz towards the back end of last year?? Thinking about getting a few tix with a some mates...

Its been a sign of the times for quite a while that people buy festival tickets and not band tickets if you get my meaning.

Velvet revolver are not that good and kiss have already been here 5 times in the last 10 years so you tell me, is it really a fair comparison?

Then again its probably just another paranoid anti metal rant from someone who lies their music mediocre. Or perhaps its the fact that punk and hardcore have sold out so much over the last 10 years that they are the c**k rock of the new millenium ;-)

Velvet revolver are decent, much better IMO than most of the stuff that goes around at soundwave... good point about the festival, but my point was very similar to your last paragraph "r perhaps its the fact that punk and hardcore have sold out so much over the last 10 years that they are the c**k rock of the new millenium"

VR are the Northern Eagles.

I dont mind VR, but really it's artficial and Weiland isn't a gun singer..........even though i love STP.

The reason Soundwave sold out is because there are some excellent bands playing in one location for the one price. The line up for Soundwave is by far the best line up for a festival I have seen for years. I am sick of seeing typical "mainstream" bands getting the nod for BDO and people such as myself who like their music a little heavier have really no reason to go to a BDO anymore, which is why a festival like soundwave has sold out quick smart because people want to see these harder acts. But there are also some more mellower acts, but at least there is a little bit of diversity in amongst the bands, I will admit I am suprised that Incubus and The Offspring are playing but hey, I will still check them out as they have had some decent songs in past years.Your attitude makes me believe you havent probably heard half the bands on the Soundwave bill, you can sit there and bag it out all you want, but it isn't catered for your mainstream punter.

I will say again, check out Killswitch, Still Remains, As I lay Dying, From Autumn to Ashes, Shadows Fall. All great bands.

I'm a pretty big VR fan, but their recent album doesn't even come close to the stuff from 'Contraband', so thats why I'll probably give it a miss.

The concert was meant to be in dec but is rescheduled for the 16th feb. I have my tickets as I want to see slash again for old times sake but as an honest opinion VR are average at best.

Live they are truely excellent and the energy at the last tour was fantastic.

But contraband was average and was hoping the 2nd would be great but libertad as even worse.

Slash's playing has hit an all time low.......I guess being sober isnt helping his creativity!

ive heard Killswitch, From Autum to Ashes, Shadows Fall. Don't like it, im not bagging it out, im just noticing how musical tastes ahve changed and mediocrity is more acceptable these days. I appreciate all kinds of music, be it the less favoured hip hop kind, to the type of metal i like. I was merely saying how usually someone like Slash would sell out crowds by himself, and how thats all changed in this decaded.

You arent bagging them, yet you want to call those bands mediocore??? They maybe in your eyes...........yes I will admit that Killswitch play minimal solos, is this the reason you want to tar them with this "mediocrity" brush????? I would rather listen to them then Malmsteem-esque "tiddly widdly" wank off bands (dragonforce excluded). Out of curiosity, what metal bands do you listen to????

Yeah, big metal fan, and I think KSE are pretty good. I liked their cover of Holy Diver. \m/

Yeah they're pretty awesme for a 'core band. Generally I'm not much into metalcore/hardcore (though metalcore is slightly better), but KSE's melodic style is great.

Just saw the Holy Diver cover on Youtube.

Don't know why he needs to do the whole screaming thing, his voice is pretty good.
