Video Refs stuff up 2 games:

Video Referees have once again, cocked up 2 decisions tonight. The first, involved calling a Matt Sing play in the final seconds as a knock on. What a crock of shit, the ball travelled backwards, it did not go forward.

Secondly, Parras try late in the game was crap. The ball travelled forward from the 20 to the 19. Go watch the replay. Piss poor

I am really getting sick of these calls that are costing games. It is pathetic and unacceptable. The refs boss has to either shape them up or get the f**k out

Cheers,
Moffo

It was interpreted that Matt Sing hit the Ball in Schif. It was a 50/50 call and I got no beef with it.

The Parra one was a bit of a joke though.

i disagree i thought Sing clearly touched it on to the fullbacks head making it an automatic knock on

Parra one was very close

Both very tougth calls, both i thought were ruled correctly

They were both spot on imo. The one in the Parra game CLEARLY went backwards. How could it go forward to a player behind him :?

I thought Sing clearly got a hand to it kocking it forward into Schifcofske.

Can't agree Thug. You watch the replay tommorrow, and look for the forward deflection off Sing on the super slow mo replay taken from behind the dead ball line. The ball deflects forward onto Schifofske, no question about it.

Dont waste your time mickdo, thug clearly saw what he wanted to see and has his own rule book that he thinks the game should be operated under. You cant convince people who are just too ignorant to realise the facts.

Um, please explain how the ball could possibly travel forward from Langi (20) to Prince (19) if Prince was standing directly behind Langi? Reinventing the laws of motion are we?

1. On Parra's last minute try, the decision is probably right with the only doubt in my mind (and probly the video ref's) being whether Langi actually put the ball on some part of the line

this could be interpreted as giving the benefit of the doubt to the attacking team - if so, fair enough

2. I don't support either team

I watched all the replays of Bowman's try like everybody, but clearly didn't have my green glasses on - how anybody above can say categorically that Sing knocked on is just plain wrong - given the number of looks the video ref had .... he clearly had plenty of doubt - it was too close to call - but no benefit of the doubt was used here = INCONSISTENCY

by the letter of the law, the No Try by Norton a little earlier was the correct decision because the dummy half was inside the 10 - however in this instance the player had no impact whatsoever on the play (and to boot was the dummy half) .... being McWilliams

this rule clearly needs reviewing cause thats just insane

conclusions of both games -

1. Parra were mighty lucky

2. Newcastle now become nuisance value in 2004 (in the next couple of weeks we will read how Johns will make it back for the finals if the Knights can get there)

3. Cowboys were dead set unlucky

4. Canberra are possibly the most boring team in the last 20 years

Oink !

Without any decent halves you are going to have a mighy hard time making it to the GF.Macca cant tackle, and iosnt a 80 minute player IMHO.He is getting targeted in defense and isnt up to standard. He may set up a try,but he lets two in.

Campese doent look like he is up to it either. He is solid, but I havent seen any spark from him either. The centres are solid, but again no spark.

Im afraid the BORING tag is fitting quite well atm for the Raiders, and I dont see any respite. You are lucky you have some killer forwards in Wiki,Davico,OHara and co,or you blokes would be getting flogged, and Monaghan, who I rate as the best defensive winger in the comp, that bloke save you a couple of tries every game.As well as scoring them to boot.

But GF,well I know its only early, but the Raiders have done quite enough to suggest to me they will be no wqhere near it in October. ;-) ;-)

They wer both moving forwards. Because of this the ball was always behind them...but as the rule states it was a knock on because the ball WAS PROPELLED TOWARDS THE OPPOSITION GOAL LINE. The video ref got sucked in by the optical illusion when all he had to do as Moffo pointed out is use the ground markings as a reference. The Naughts got ripped off.

Watch the replay. Both were moving towards the Newcastle try line and the 20 juggled it forward before the 19 took it. It WAS propelled forward. I don't wish to be arrogant, but you are WRONG.

And as for the Sing 'knock on'....tell me how the ball was propelled forward?????? Look at the BLOODY line markings

sing knocked the ball into the raiders player head right at start of the contest. then he touched it again and that went backwards.
