Kinda new to this Forum so please forgive me if their is already a thread on this.
This system is in serious need for an overhaul for 2016. It's all well and good to "double check" a try when the refs are unsure, but they refer to it for just about every try these days. There are 4 officials out there capable of making a decision. People have suggested that it is to give KFC 'airtime', that may be, however I'm sure that can be integrated elsewhere.
My suggested for 2016 would be to introduce a referral system. Each team/captain is awarded 2 referrals per game if they believe a try shouldn't be awarded. These referees are getting paid too much to pass the responsibility over to a video referral. Is there a lack of confidence? Are they scared of making the wrong calls? Either way it gets frustrating and takes away from the joy of scoring a try.
If KFC are concerned about airtime, we could go down the old "This try was brought to you by KFC" avenue. Either way, something needs to be done.
Or am I being too pedantic?
