Virat Kohli on Saturday took to Twitter to officially announce his decision to step down as Indian cricket team's Test captain after the series defeat against South Africa. The star batter had taken over the job in the year 2004 as two-time World Cup winning skipper MS Dhoni's replacement.

Cricket is changing fast.

Virat did a good job. Brought them success. However their on-field behaviour is the worst I've ever seen from an Indian team. They are the team that everyone wants to see lose. Even Indians want to see them lose.

Still has some struggles with the bat in the longer format. He has made plenty of starts in the last couple years but isn't kicking on with it. Similar to Ponting I think but Kohli's drop in form started when he was a bit younger.

There was a documentary released a few years ago on Greg Chappell's time as their coach. A very good insight on the mechanisms on the BCCI. But that was siding with the captain at the time, this is a reversal of that. Maybe Ravi 'tracer bullet' Shastri had a big role in this...
