If Parra get the nod for Vegas I reckon Drown might be sitting at home. I know some players got VISA exemptions this year but I don't think any of them were the same kind of crimes at Dylan's
I was thinking that last night actually.

I don't think Dylan will be allowed over there with his charge from last year. The USA are strict as anything when it comes to any visas. And it being very recent.

It might be why we ain't that enthusiastic about going over with one of better/crucial players might not be available.

Leniu and Broncos involved in late-night hotel argument over ‘monkey’ slur as Rooster sent to judiciary

If he is guilty i reckon the book will be thrown at him.

The NRL would be fuming this has overshadowed the whole weekend.

The bigger worry was going to footballers playing up off the field not expecting this to be the drama to come out of it.

If he is guilty i cant see them giving anything less then 10 matches tbh.

I thought Trent Robbo's comments were just as arrogant and sums them up as a club it should have been a no comment not making out that what was said was misinterpreted already trying to manipulate an outcome.

Roosters prop Spencer Leniu has been embroiled in a second altercation with Broncos rival Ezra Mam as relations between the clubs hit rock bottom over the racism saga in Las Vegas.

This masthead can reveal Brisbane lock Pat Carrigan leapt to the defence of Mam after an enraged Leniu again verbally attacked the Broncos five-eighth at the Resorts World hotel at which both teams were staying.

The second Mam-Leniu stoush occurred in early hours of Sunday morning (local time), just hours after the Roosters enforcer was accused of calling the Broncos pivot a “monkey” in his side’s 20-10 victory at Allegiant Stadium.

Leniu has been formally charged by the NRL match review committee with contrary conduct and will front a judiciary hearing at League headquarters to determine his fate.

It is understood Leniu is facing an extended stint on the sidelines if found guilty, possibly up to two months, with ARL Commission boss Peter V’landys determined to take a zero-tolerance approach on racism in the code.

But the Leniu-Mam drama was not restricted to the field. It can be revealed Mam was verbally attacked for a second time by Leniu after a chance meeting between the parties that quickly became heated.

Well-placed sources say Brisbane trio Mam, Carrigan and Kotoni Staggs were returning to their rooms at Resorts World after the entire Broncos squad gathered for a meal in their team headquarters at the hotel.

The Broncos and Roosters squads were situated on the same floor of their Vegas hotel, with their respective team dining areas approximately 50 metres apart.

It is understood Staggs, Mam and Carrigan opted not to go out into the general casino floor downstairs, and also shunned alcohol, after being bitterly disappointed with Brisbane’s performance in the Roosters’ emphatic win.

As the trio began walking a long corridor to return to their rooms, they had an unexpected meeting with Leniu.

Still fired up over being placed on report for his alleged racial slur in the 69th minute of the round 1 blockbuster, Leniu first made a beeline for Staggs, who was walking slightly ahead of Mam and Carrigan.

It is understood the pair exchanged words, although at no stage was there a physical altercation.

That’s when Leniu spotted Mam and launched a tirade at the Indigenous playmaker, accusing the Broncos five-eighth of inflaming a situation that, in his eyes, should have stayed on the field.

As Leniu moved towards Mam, Carrigan jumped between the pair. A Roosters official was in the vicinity of the argument and pulled Leniu away to defuse the situation.

The Roosters forward will have a chance to tell his side of the story at the NRL’s judiciary hearing, likely to be scheduled later this week when the sides return to Australia.

Mam is standing by his version of events that he was racially abused. The 21-year-old is proud of his Indigenous heritage - he was part of an Aboriginal dance troupe that performed in traditional uniforms at Suncorp Stadium in 2021, a year before Mam made his NRL debut.

Mam’s family are advocates of First Nations rights and have played a role in the creation of the Deadly Choices program that aims to empower Indigenous people to improve their quality of life.

Mam is a Deadly Choices ambassador and is prepared to take a strong stand on racism.

Two Broncos players told coach Kevin Walters they heard the racial slur and they are prepared to back Mam’s claim at the NRL judiciary.

It is understood Broncos prop Payne Haas is one of the players who heard the Leniu comment that has sparked the latest NRL firestorm.

Walters helped console a distressed Mam in the sheds immediately after full-time and wants the NRL to come down hard on Leniu if the premiership-winning prop is found guilty of a racial slur.

I find it hilarious the NRL put both teams on the same floor.

I reckon thats no chance next year.

Would be a bit strange having 2 games as round 1 and the 3rd an exhibition game based on the previous season.
These two blokes were in Vegas trying to capture a US Fox $US200M TV deal.

The rest of the media and the hangers on were giving zero f**ks about the detail. TBH most of us just want to win the Rnd 1 game and the Rnd 2 and 3 game that follow. If going to Vegas, brings baggage like a WC or a WCC often does, then I prefer us to stay home.

Not playing in the WCC has helped the last 38 years i suppose so its probably the right strategy.

I reckon he will get 4-6 weeks if found guilty.
weak as shit it thats the case, but its the nrl and the roosters so wouldnt surprise me.

really if the is an audio recording, on top of his comments to the media post, and that he had another go at him at the hotel later that night - the bloke should be looking at 10 weeks minimum.

Total flog

I find it funny Robinson was so supportive of his formal player Latrell last year when he was racially abused, but when its one of his players that is being accused, he says the accusations may not be true. What a chump.

I reckon 6 weeks is pretty harsh. It's 25% of the season. Dylan Brown got 8 weeks for a criminal offence that now sees him as a sex offender. I know they are different but is being called a monkey worse?

Kinda the same when he went after Dylan Brown. No malice, but Robinson made a point of being a merkin about it. Meanwhile he says zip about Victor and JWH.

Speaking to my parents this morning there initial reaction was similar how are Parra going to compete with those 4 teams after seeing them yesterday as there pretty pessimistic coming into this year already about Parra already.

We have it in us its about consistency.

Like everything it comes down to defensive attitude and mindset with us. We have enough attack in us. Its how we defend will decide how far we go.

We seemed to be a like a tap. We turn it off and on when it suits. And that's including during games.
Our halves and forwards are as good if not better than any of the top teams. Will our backs be able to hold their own?

what's the punishment if a fan racially abuses a player? Should they just apply the same punishment

If this bit is true, and there’s nothing in the article that backs it up, firstly it discredits any further attempt to suggest he didn’t throw out a racial slur and secondly he’s now doubling down on it on top of intimidation and that Mam has no right to be offended.
The guy needs a slap
