VOICE RECOGNITION.....Is it possible??

Hey i just had an idea.

Thinking in the realms of SOCOM and RAINBOW SIX, Mario what are the chances of implementing voice recognition into the game.

Imagine having the ball and being able to say key words to interact with your team.

e.g. 'inside' could mean a cpu player on your team would position himself for an inside ball.

'kick' would mean get your kicker ready to recieve and depending on wear you are your forwards could run through as they know you are going to kick, or 'punt' to keep everyone onside when you kick because you are trying to recover it.

You could even interact with the ref, where the game will recognise swear words (we all swear at the ref when he pulls us up for offside on the 5th tackle :D ) and the ref can say something like 'you speak to me like that again and your off' and if you keep doing it he can say 'right, i gave you a warning your gone!'

'bomb' could mean your players are ready to contest the bomb etc etc...

The possibilities are endless. It could truely be a groundbreaking initiative in a sports game (unless its been done and i dont know it!).

Thoughts?

Mario, is it even possible?

That's a cool idea but i'd be surprised if most people would consider it a high enough priority to get in ahead of most of the other stuff on the list... what do other people think? Either way, I have added it to my little collation of concepts, keep the thinking happening! :D

Yeah i agree guys that there are higher priorities but if there was time to implement it i think it would add an awsome aspect to the gameplay, something not really seen before in a sport game.

Anyway, just something that came to me when i tried to get an inside ball happening yeaterday!

that would be a mad idea

but if u cant do it how does it solve the passing prob, where if u want to pass to a specific person, but the coding within the game makes u pass to some dude next to him running a different angle.

i dunno if its been said but the r3 button needs to be implemented as the future passing button for all rugby sims

it would be more manual and direct like in pes3.
so if u want a decoy runner, u can just press diagonal down/right, it passes to some dude back behind to the right, and the dude immediatly to the right is now a decoy.....make sense
this way u can pass to any dude u want, look at the screen and push the r3 towards him....if hes infront, its forward and YOUR FAULT.

plus make it touch sensitive, the furthur right u push, the longer the pass.

if it cant be done, or is too complicated, atleast make it an option in expert mode, like in madden 2004, with its playmaker thingy, and or madden controls

u could say the r3 is 8 extra buttons, up, down left, right, and the diagonals, but no-one seems to utilise this in sports games, except pes3 and madden

i think adding voice recongnition would be a great feature 2 add from sidhe's point of view as it would be a first for a sports game...it would be easier 2 do than some other features that people have stated but you cant use a microphone on ps2 and xbox can you?? and you would have teach it 2 recognise your voice as well.

i dunno if nrl would alough swearing though :D :D :D

are u thinking of having specific kicks in the next.....oh sorry, IF there is a next version of the game as in torpedo punt, wobbly old grubber, banana punt ect cause that would add new light 2 kicking...

Not if they use set words like passm etc,. That only needs to be done if you want to type a letter with no set words.

Good idea I like it. It would be excellent to set up different plays. But you would have to have the digital cross as a back up.
Cheers and Salu

Yeah you can use a mic on Xbox and PS2 its been done with the army games SOCOM and Rainbow 6.

How they work is it is set to recognise certain words which then assign a certain play.

Much like telstra 12455, they have certain companies that if you say it it recognises it and you dont have to speak to an operator for the number. It can be done as these other games have shown.

I think it would add a great new dimension, although we would all sound rather amusing talking to our consoles or PC's!!!
