Volunteers to do match reports

addit by roopy - I'm making this post it's own thread and turning it into an announcement. It is all about people getting ready to do match reports for our new news sub domain.
Anyone who will be at the games would be good to do a match report - especially the Nth Qld game.

Organisation time:

First of all let's ensure we cover the most important events - matches!

There are a number of trials coming up that we need expressions of interest for:

* 21 February Trial Match - Newcastle Knights v Sydney Roosters
Nelson Bay, First Grade, Premier League, Jersey Flegg TBC

* 28 February Trial Match - Newcastle Knights v North Queensland Cowboys
Mackay, Qld, First Grade only

* 28 February Trial Match - Newcastle Knights v Bulldogs
Belmore Oval, Premier League, Jersey Flegg

Roopy has an advanced knowledge of the lower grades so generally this will be his area to specialise in (feel free to branch into other areas though Roopy, by all means). The problem is that one of the lower grade trials is in Belmore - the PL and JF sides. If there is anyone planning on attending this match (it is only a lower grades match) then let me know.

As I understand it, Tony is prepared to cover the Nelson Bay match next month - this is at least three weeks away so there is no panic.

Once the season-proper begins, we should be at the stage of being able to cover all the matches - hopefully even the lower grade away matches.

-----

In the meantime we need to account for our playing stocks - who is injured, what is their injury, how long will they be out for. The Official Knights site is not updated with this information at present.

Generally it will be a case of being assigned a news report written by mainstream media, re-jigging it, and then sending it to me to have a run over and I'll fix up any problems in there - the LU news editor will also be skimming too.

Whoa - anything else? Perhaps I need a chief-of-staff......

The site thusfar is very impressive - cheers for that Green-Eye.

However the interesting inclusion of "2004 CANBERRA RAIDERS TEAM LIST" instead of a Knights one may have a second tier of meaning to it.
Perhaps we should lend you some of our players. ;-)

They are last season's injuries - they do not count injuries for this year - Daniel Abraham being one.

The plan is to keep people informed of which matches you plan on covering - if this is the case then provided I'm not told otherwise, there will be no one else covering those two matches in Belmore. I'll get back to you closer to the date - at this stage you're the only volunteer.

The site seems to be suffering again - I won't bother writing more until the site is working for more than a day or two.

Daniel Abraham being the only one not on that list is only because the footy season hasn't started yet

During the footy season they have the injuries updated after every game played.

Fair enough Aussie Knight - I'm just looking for current player updates now so we can establish the injury situation.

By the way - I like your sig.

Just heard on the radio that U16 and U18 side are playing trials at Lyle Peacock oval tomorrow from 2pm.
I'm keen to see how Kade Snowden and Nic Andriessen have bulked up over the off season - so i will be there and do match reports.
PS - I am also really keen to get a first look at our new crop of juniors for Harold Matthews.

If no one comes good with a match report for the cowboys game - we could either go to the cowboys forum and ask one of them to do a report - or we could do one from the newspapers - but i think we should make sure it is covered.

O.K - that would be great Roopy if you could do that.

If no one comes good with a match report for the cowboys game - we could either go to the cowboys forum and ask one of them to do a report - or we could do one from the newspapers - but i think we should make sure it is covered.

Newspapers are good for double checking facts - perhaps a Cowboys fan could do the report and we could insert the details later. I'm not sure there will be that much coverage of the match in the news given it is a trial, but we'll see how we go.

Any volunteers to start putting together player profiles?

Name, date of birth, position, matches prior to 2004, matches last season, total tries/points/goals etc - those not as willing or confident in report writing could contribute in this way. It can either be done as a straight profile -
i.e. Age: 27
Height: 183cm
Weight: 102kg

or you could write all the information into a paragraph or two and breifly go into anecdotes about the player's career. Even if people just do a couple (obvious ones like Johns, Kennedy, Buderus etc) if they feel they know more about them.

Bear in mind though that it may be fiddled with to make it fit or read better.

Anything else at this stage - PM me or Roopy (who I hereby appoint chief-of-staff :D )

I have some spare time up my sleeves now, so if there is anything that you think that I could do let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I shall be happy to do one for the Roosters trial game, I just hope I can get a view of the game, I went up there for a bit of a reccy the other week and it's a pretty small ground, no grandstand, and very limited parking. I think we will have to be up with the sparrows to get a decent spot.

Letting you know.....now! ;-)

Any player profiles that people wish to do will be gratefully accepted. I'm waiting for Roopy to get back to me on the future of the Knights subsection, but at this stage I'm of the opinion it will be used - profiles included.

Closer to the date of matches I'll look at assigning matches to people - a thread with a list will probably be stickied - not yet though.
