Vote 1 Johny Morris for starting hooker

Though i cant see this happening, my opinion is that morris is a much better player than riddell and better suited to the position than riddell. if you compare the stats, morris has made 42 tackles the last 2 weeks & a tonne more dummy half runs, breaks & metres than riddell. i personally think riddell is more suited as a 2nd rower w2ith his robust size and strength. they are saying morris is going to 5/8 but i would rather witt and tim smith in the halves role with riddell in the starting 2nd row OR as the replacement hooker.

No Smith will not play as a 5/8 he will deadset disappoint. When Smith does not control the line we go horrible. Smith needs to spend time in prems without interference from Thorman. How does MAteo go at 5/8 or is he more suited to lock.

Mateo is an option at 5/8 but watching him in PL he doesn't have the ball skills to play 5/8. he's an average 5/8, excellent lock.

Just thinking about it....

Morris is a longer contributor, game time wise that Ridell. But Pig is alsi great at dummy half, and a fantastic kicker.

Someone mentioned previously that Smith may use Pig as he used Drew. That is, Pig on for the first 20 and the last 20. I reckon you will see Morris at 5/8, in a defensive role a-la Wagon. The difference is that Mirris can kick and pass, so we are nopt sacrificing attack during those times. And when Pig goes off, Morris goes to dummy half, and Witt/Thorman/Smith/whoever slots in at 5/8.

Despite the rumours, I reckon Dykas at half is absolutely crucial to that formula. If we keep Dykes, I reckon we could have found the formula.

that sounds pretty good misty. keep those 3 on the park all year and things will definitely click.

i think what our team is lacking at the moment is little combinations. (due to instability in selections) the best we had going for a while was freshy and grothe, even that needed a bit more time to fall into place. we have wado backing up everyone all the time. but other than that, theres no combinations that we can rely on when going gets tough.

I think Riddell has alot to offer the side. One thing people hasn't mentioned is that he is such a physical defender. Riddell adds so much more hiting power to our forward pack. I think he will be very good in gang tackles and helping the side dominate the play the ball.

Forget Riddel or Seconds as the starting hooker give that job to SCOTTY!!!! He kills it when ever he gets the chance on the field.

I wrote all I've got to say in the Morris v Riddell thread- but i'll highlight it again- John Morris is a shite dummy half- move him into the halves or onto the bench.

Absolutely right Misty  Had we been able to snare Orford, then it would have been a different story. Now, since we didn't get Orford it would be one of THE MOST STUPID DECISIONS EVER MADE BY OUR CLUB to release Dykes from his contract! He may not be the best halfback in the competition but he sure as hell is the best halfback option currently at our club.

I still don't know why we wasted the money buying riddell, what's wrong with morris and i also think it will be a battle of ego's between smtih and riddell and we know who will win that contest...... :x

People please make up your mind...

Last yr most people wanted Dykes as far as away possible from Parra now you say he HAS to stay. Ans some of you are still bagging Dykes...the thing is we cannot chop and change (unless injury) because that is not how you win a premiership!

But on the Morris situation...Morris should be dummy-half he is practically our most consistent performer (besides Hindy n Wade) and always trys hard and should have 1st shot at the hooker position. Because I believe Morris is a better option then Riddell

Agreed. If Dykes plays tonight, I think Parra win, and win quite comfortably, Probably would have won last week as well.
Without Dykes next year, we won't be winning much of anything.

We bought Riddell because while Morris tries hard, we are not going to win a premiership with him at dummy half. He needs to make up his mind whether he's a 5/8 or a dummy half - especially on the 5th tackle. I've lost count of the number of times he'd take a few half hearted steps down the blind side on the 5th, then throw a rushed pass putting the "kicker" (Burt / Wagon / Hopkins) under pressure. In fact, there's been times where I'm not sure whether he even realises it's the 5th.

Morris is a good hard working player (not unlike Hopkins), but there are a lot of areas of his game, particularly his decision making and service from dummy half which leave a lot to be desired.

NO Brian Smith needs to make up his mind ... BS has come out and said that Morris will be our 5/8 next year .. so where does he play him this year ? hooker

If thats what hes gonna do why not put him as a 5/8 NOW at least he will hit the ground running next year !!!
