I didn't hear video ref feedback after the try, did anyone catch it? What was their justification for allowing the try?

Just some extra info on the Nathan Merritt No-Try. Directly from this years Rugby League Rule book.

SECTION 14
OFFSIDE

3. An offside player is placed onside if:
(b) an opponent touches the ball without retaining it.

Looked like Shillington's foot reacted to the ball to me. But maybe "playing" at the ball is different to "touching" it, I don't know how the refs interpret this one.

Didn't hear it either. I was at the game and I refuse to watch that abortion of a match ever again. So unless someone posts it here, I'll probably never know.

Yeah, it's a bit of a grey area, this one. I think that the fact that Burgess was within the 10 when the ball came off Shillington in the first place, sort of negates that. The rule now is that if you are off side (i.e. in front of the kicker), but more than 10 metres away from the ball contact, you are then back on side. I think that if you are inside that 10 metres, it doesn't really matter what happens as you are deemed to be invovled in the original play.

It used to be different but I'm sure the rule has changed within the last 5 years.

Adam had a brain explosion during this time, The ref waved 6 again and he kicked it on the first tackle. If we played on we would have scored, we had the roll on with 6 tackles 10 meters out. No video ref to interfere with the decision and give Raiders a penalty. Big turning point in Game.
