Loving the centre to centre try combination. Happened on the GC and now tonight.

Walker getting his hands on the ball in space is a great sight.

Was a frustrating game to watch. Our outside backs looked likely whenever they got quality ball but we kept getting to our halves on the fringe and then turning it back inside all night. Walker Auva'a and Johnston needed to see more ball. Merritt also looked like his timing was off. The few times he chimed in he was getting the ball with defenders right in his face. Needed to be a pace or two slower when chiming in.

Best part of the game by a mile!

Was very slow and boring game, but good to see us get away with an ugly win and keep them nude.

What an un-inspiring performance.
I think if we had played anyone else at all last night, we'd have lost based on the lack of intensity and the amount of mistakes made.
Poor old sharks, they never looked like any hope of even accidentally scoring.

The Sharks brought us down to their level last nite,no set moves,no bodies in motion and above all, no penetration. One good thing was the defence. We have a lot to work on for the St Merge game.

Content South Sydney Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire has expressed his joy over his team's ability to hang tough in their 18-nil win over the Cronulla Sharks on Monday night.
While the game remained an arm wrestle from start to finish, Maguire was particularly pleased with his side's wiliness in defence after holding Cronulla to nil for the first time in 81 appearances against one another.
Despite missing Queensland Origin trio Greg Inglis, Chris McQueen and Ben Te'o the Bunnies still looked comfortable as they secured their sixth win of the season, a win that now sees them re-enter the top eight heading into Round 12.
"We knew it was going to be a tough game down here. Every time we come down here on a Monday night you end up in a bit of an arm wrestle and that's what it was tonight," Maguire said.
"The boys made it hard for themselves at times through the game. Pleasing that they're working really hard for each other but we know we need to be better than that from an attack point of view, but our defence held us up strong tonight.
"It was great to see that they were kept to nil. We've been working hard to keep a team to nil and I've been told that the last time [it happened] was in 1999 so little things along the way like that are pleasing to achieve and we just have to keep backing it up now."
While the Sharks are having a miserable season to date, with only two wins to their name so far this year, Maguire was adamant that the Rabbitohs were in no way complacent despite the Sharks missing influential quartet Paul Gallen Todd Carney, Andrew Fifita and Luke Lewis.
"We actually had a number of players coming in and they're all playing for positions with the guys that are gone [on Origin duty]. I thought Benny Lowe, Tom Burgess and Joe Picker came on and did a good job for us," Maguire said.
"The boys trained really well during the week, we spoke about the fact that it was going to be a tough game as it always is... but there's still plenty of work we can do."
Not one to rest on his laurels Maguire is refusing to look too far into the future with his focus now shifting to Monday night's clash with the Dragons, who will be playing with new coach Paul McGregor at the helm for the first time following the sacking of Steve Price.
"[Next week] is all that matters with the amount of footy we have to go. It's such a tight competition where every game is so important. We learnt some harsh lessons earlier in the season and that put us in a place we didn't like but we're growing as a group and we'll get better from that performance tonight."

We're not, it was just one of those games where we never looked like reaching our potential yet at the same time didn't have to, due to the opposition.

It was a good hit out before next week.

Issac Luke's deputies give Michael Maguire a nice dilemma

South Sydney are expected to welcome back hooker Issac Luke for next Monday's clash with St George Illawarra, leaving coach Michael Maguire with a dilemma over what to do with his dummy half rotation.
Apisai Koroisau and Cameron McInnes have been a revelation in Luke's absence for the most part of the season, however one, if not both, could get the axe next week with the club's No.1 dummy half all but ready to return from a shoulder injury against the Dragons at ANZ Stadium on Monday night.
Luke hasn't played since injuring his shoulder in the loss to the Wests Tigers back in round three, however both McInnes and Koroisau have more than held their own with their tag team efforts over the past two months.
While the pair have shared the workload during Luke's absence, Maguire is undecided whether Luke will go back to his usual role as an 80 minute player or whether to play either McInnes or Koroisau on the bench.
"I've got to make some tough decisions there and I have Issac working hard, but he probably fears he might be in Norths playing reserve grade," Maguire joked.
"Nah, he'll be right. I've got to make some tough decisions. The two young kids have been doing such a good job for us.
"Through that period when you lose such a good player like Issac, you want to make sure you've got some cover and we've showed that with these two young kids coming through."
Luke was a chance of making an early return in Monday night's 18-0 win over Cronulla at Remondis Stadium, in which substitute hooker McInnes crossed for his first try in the NRL.
"He was close but I obviously didn't want to risk him there with that injury," Maguire said.
"We'll have to go through this week and see where he's at again. We've got a longer turnaround to Monday so that gives us a bit more time."
While the Rabbitohs were hardly challenged in defence, they did have to withstand five consecutive sets on their own line in the last five minutes of the game to keep Cronulla scoreless at home for the first time in three years.
It also snapped a 15-year drought for the Bunnies, with Maguire more than happy to share his side's feats in the post-match press conference.
"It was great to see that they got nil, because the boys have been working hard to get a team nil, and I've been told that the last time was in '99 against Penrith, so little things a long the way like that are pleasing to achieve," Maguire said.
"We have just got to be able to keep backing it up."
While it was the first time in Sutton's career that he played in a team that held the opposition scoreless, he said the Rabbitohs had plenty to work on in attack after a less than impressive night out with the ball in hand.
"We've been working hard on trying to do it the last couple of years and it was very pleasing that we did," Sutton said of his team's effort to keep the Sharks to nil.
"Like Madge said, I thought our attack wasn't on and we turned over too much ball. We definitely have to work hard this week at training to get it right."
With Paul Gallen and Luke Lewis away on Origin duty with the Blues and Andrew Fifita, Todd Carney, Beau Ryan and Anthony Tupou on the sidelines through injury, the Rabbitohs would have been excused for allowing complacency to creep into their game.
However Maguire insists that wasn't the case for his troops.
"Not at all, I actually had a number of players coming in and they are all playing for positions," Maguire said.
"With the guys that were gone, I thought Benny Lowe and Tom Burgess came in and they did a good job for us."
