Getting rid of the hip drop tackle is a good rule and both Finucane (3 weeks) and Niukore (2 weeks) are having a holiday if they plead guilty. Longer stints on the sideline if they fight it and lose. Dropping almost your full weight onto the back of the ball carriers legs when he is straining to go forward is not a good look. I am not into "ref bashing" either but I think the Finucane tackle was picked up by the Bunker. Judiciary Charges
Finucane maybe but Niukore’s was arguably not a hip drop, he was being dragged by Talakai’s forward momentum and just pulled him down. I doubt the club will risk it but there’s a reasonable case there.

OK, maybe the Finucane one he's putting pressure...but it unfolds at pace, he's not meaningfully doing that. It's not overly dangerous. And the Niukore one was a joke. How else is he supposed to get him to ground? In a game where there are significant advantages to standing in the tackle for either an offload or a fast play the ball, the defenders have to get the ball carrier to ground. How Niukore did it was not dangerous. I still think that one is a disgrace.

Heres Annersleys presentation of the hip drop tackle rule followed by the replay link to Warriors game last week. 49.30 on the time is the best view for the tackle. Another hip drop last night in Souths game.
