Honestly this is a ripper. Wouldn't mind it as a money grab, heritage option. Heard somewhere years ago it was intended to be the Bears' SL jersey just with a white collar but grain of salt.

reds 3 seasons of heritage their western jersey was ok both iterations homes and away.
so was super leagues. but both just looked like a bears mock up with splash of yellow. i think same thing about seagulls they were basically bears with more white

Seagulls was just the 1970 Walk Off jersey but with two more black bars

I’ve had my issues with PR in the past but I don’t consider him to be a liar. If he’s bitter about the NRLs treatment of Perth, then he has reason to as it’s been farcical.

he is a liar. his claiming to know inside info then it being wrong is proof or he changes his story. at least bear guy says something sticks to it and from what i seens it comes off. although he hasnt been posting for abit i tagged him 4 times recently but no replies

The AFL seems far more unified than the NRL, across the clubs, state bodies and media. The NRL is just a bunch of competing factions who all have their own ideas. The NRL media are fixated on off field rubbish, signings, pretty much anything except the future and health of the sport.

That unified aspect comes from the top-down.

It just looks like the organization running the game has been determined for a long time to make decisions *for the good of the game* and NOT buckle to individual clubs' self interest.

I'm sure there probably is the same diversity of viewpoints in AFL - some VERY club-biased - but there's a central organization that's happy to stare-down anything that distracts from *the good of the game* overall.

Is the AFL losing the great football war of western Sydney?

It was former Australian Rugby League chief executive Geoff Carr who once warned the AFL its push into western Sydney could be its Vietnam War.

That's a good read, and while it's easy to put the boot into a club when it's down, their troubles are surely compounded by the success of the Panthers, and resurgence of the Bulldogs.

If the Tigers & Eels rebuild & kick-on in the next season or two, the AFL could well be in a quagmire in Western Sydney.

Putting a 2nd team in a non-heartland city was a MASSIVE act of hubris by them when Canberra was right there with no AFL team.

There's a lot of umm-ing and Ahh-ing from them over what's going to be the 20th team after Tasmania. If the Giants are failing, I wouldn't be surprised if they use a relocation for them to cover off (say) Canberra, leaving that 20th team for some other option.

when you consider that before this glory run that panthers are having they were probably least supported west sydney club and now they have become giant in their own right.

i thinks dogs being on the up again is good and i dont thinks eels and tigers are too far off. if all 4 west sydney clubs + add raiders to this are firing same time which i dont think they ever have before then it's lights out to gws. as long as the west sydney nrl clubs sustain success and results of course

I don’t think the panthers success has had any impact on the giants lack of success

They (giants) have made finals and grand finals and been a major success on the field

We are just seeing how successful afl expansion clubs are in rugby league markets when they don’t have the help of a super league war
