I kind of agree with the other bloke that if you're going to use the Bears brand and logo then use it, don't bastardise it into something only vaguely resembling it. Either create a new brand or use Bears. It looks like were using Bears, ok great let's support it.

Would you consider the original Sydney or Brisbane changes acceptable to their heritage brands?

Why are they the only two examples?
Probably because they are the only two Australian examples remotely like what is proposed, ie the moving of a brand from one city to another.

In Swans case they changed the logo colour, added an iconic Sydney landmark and added the name of the city. Next phase they changed the swan design and shape as well.

How’s Brisbane the same

They took the Fitzroy lions, merged them with the Brisbane bears then killed off the bears name for the lions

If that’s your benchmark then this isn’t even close to that

Fair call, the Swans are an example of how youchange a logo to represent the new city the brand belongs to.
Though even with Brisbane they didnt just adopt the fitzroy brand fully either, they changed the colours to match the new city's brand. Eventually dumping the old lion for a modern version. Western Bears just skipped the middle phase!

It's not much closer to Swans.

To be fair, the CC Bears logo was entirely different and I don't believe it was rejected by the NS faithful.

Forced marriages rarely work out well for both partners. As was the case here.
I'm sure now both Sydney and Brisbane are considered successful marriages or rising phoenix if you will. The main reason they are successful is that the new club are fully controlled by the new market/franchise. Any bickering that went on during the 80s and 90s about the colours, jumper and logo are long forgotten.

My point was why are people so focused on the colours, jumper and logo? Yes it must respect NS, but to what degree would changes be accepted by NS supporters? You're never going to please everyone. Whether a few people in Perth or NS are disappointed initially what is vital is the club has a united board working together in the best interest of Perth its home.

Thats the point, there are wildly different views on it from what I have experienced on social media.
From the die hards who believe it should still be at NSO let alone any change to brand,
to the moderates who can accept some Westernisation of the brand
to the les affaires who just want a Bears club to support in the NRL and dont care what brand ends up like.

No different to the WA fans who also cover a broad spectrum from those who hate the idea of a Sydney brand in Perth to those who dont care as long as there is an NRL club here to support.

Not at all, after all I was there every weekend signing over 8,000 Central Coast Bears members only for the NRL to keep moving the goal posts on us.
The Cumins’ bid consortium Bear logo proposals were both horrible, surely they were taking the piss, as I mentioned earlier I don’t mind the Bear looking different but geez atleast make it look like it was done by a professional.
The Consortium themselves said that they weren’t appealing to the 80 year old East Coast Bears supporters but to a younger audience, obviously toddlers, as it looks like one drew up their logo.
