A great move to develop local talent in JBC. The JBC is a long way below PL but as many Flegg kids have found out it is above Flegg, the reason is that these guys are not playing against kids their own age but seasoned men many with FG experience. JBC is slower than PL but as many players will tell you it is very tough.
You may say that it is below Park footy and that may be the case but the points sytem means that teams cannot stack sides like park footy can. Several young JBC players are startingto move up the food chain so it has its benefits and allows some clubs to play at a higher level without the cost and opportunity to be competitive.
The big probolem with JBC is facilities as many clubs do not have a decent ground and this is not a requirement to enter the comp.

A very good step by t he WARL though to blood their developing players.

an excellent step

and a great idea to progress to qld cup before nrl

The Naming Competition has now closed.

It will be very interesting to see what name, colours and logo has been chosen and the reasons given for the decision.

Announcement should be in about 3 weeks!!!!

Doesn't seem right that it closed so quickly but I suppose they wanted to get up and running for next (this) year.

I ams ure they have received many many quality entries in that time.

Like you have said, it was important to build the brand asap, with the junior rep sides etc!

Did the competition for a new name get any mainstream media attention in WA? Was it mentioned during the sports reports of the nightly news or in the morning paper that they were taking submissions for the name of the new WA League team? Is it something that the general population is aware of, not just those that seek out specific Rugby League sites for the latest news?

That is excellent news.

I wonder if Misty has any great ideas????

Man, some major bragging rights IF someone from here happened to have their suggestion chosen.
They really could say, 'thats my team'.

What was your idea?

I submitted: Western Pythons

Logo: Large Black Python with one red eye and one yellow eye.

WA is known for a large variety of deadly pythons!!!

You dont think they might be wary of anything to do with pythons, and any nicnames they may be dubbed as a result of ?
If I was in charge Id steer well clear of anything 'python', winking or otherwise.

Im guessing he is talking about pythons looking like dicks.

in which case....eels anyone? no matter what they choose someone is going to be able to make an insulting name out of it, i doubt they would worry too much about that
