very talented fullback, if he stayed at souths, he would be in contention for peacheys fullback spot for sure

is that their major signing ????, i wouldnt call it too major, not to discredit mckinnon, but shouldnt a major signing be an international or origin rep,

not really. those signings are called what chews up your cap. rovelli is turning out to be one of the buys of the year and he certainly wasn't high profile

also not every team can be like souths and buy half a team every 3 years or so. the warriors like lots of teams are happy with what they have and make the odd buy to fill gaps in the roster. wade mckinnon may not be a superstar but he has first grade experince and for 200k could be yet another excellent buy.

souths may have bought lots of the big names but the return could be bad and they will be stuck with them for years to come.

He looked good. He would have had a couple of tries early on if Parramatta were looking for the offload. He was constantly running off the hip of the big fellas. Given Price, Wiki and friends aren't against rolling through the ruck and passing to Webb on the fly, it augurs well for us.

It's a lot harder for the Warriors to sign big name Australian players (with a couple of notable exceptions). Most of them would have no desire to move to New Zealand, and the Warriors themselves tend to cop a bad rap in the Australian media, with all those cliches we know well being pulled out. That's pretty much why the Warriors must be a whole lot more astute with our purchases and junior development - we cant just buy a team like the Roosters etc can. The key is to find a balance of good local talent, tough australian journeymen, and young guys full of potential whether they be from Australia or NZ. Then it's up to the coaching staff and team culture to develop each individual to play to his potential.

However, the Warriors have had the tendency to buy the not so big names or virtual unknown (with Price and Wiki the acceptions) and helping these no names turn into something special. Ie Webby, and also the way Ravs is going at the moment.

I'm looking forward to McKinnon pulling on the Warriors jumper. I think he will play even better than Webb is at the moment.
