I hope not, Webster is an absolute waste.
I can't believe he's in 1st grade. He comes on in the last 15 minutes.
Just passes the ball from dummy half...Amen

I think you are being too hard on Webster.
He may not be the best defender, but as long as someone is covering him, I believe he's a great little attacking player, especially off the bench.
There are many options for 5/8, you never know who's gonna get a run with Smithy lol

Webster is a great defender. He's a little terrior. Against the Raiders he attempted 30 odd tackles and pulled off 27 of them. Excellent stats for someone his size. He is also very smart with the football in hand and knows the right options.

I hope now that Wagon is out for 1 week, Witt or Thorman come in to the game to see how they are playing. It would be good to see Witt back in 1st grade.

Webster is a very good player he just wasn't needed v Souths against the Knights and Broncos Webster came on a played great had he not been there I'm not sure if Parra would have been able to get the wins.

In Defence teams run at him whenever he in on the field and Webster rarely misses tackles but there are two stats that need to be considered

Missed tackles and ineffective tackles

If a player grabs another player but the player offloads the ball that is an ineffective tackle not a missed tackle.

Webster very very rarely misses tackles but as he always goes around the legs quite often players get offloads away if the players inside and outside Webster come in and either wrap up the ball or take the player who the ball is offloaded to then Websters good defence will become more noticable.

I cannot remember a game where Webster missed a lot of tackles.

I can't believe what you people are saying about Webster.
Has anyone ever seen him tackle someone one on one.
He needs 2 to 3 players there with him to bring a player down.
So what's the point then. All he does is pass the ball from dummy half,
that is all. It's like he's non-existent on the field. I'm not going to feel sorry for him because he's a small bloke. He would be better suited riding on the back of Lonhro than in 1st grade at Parra. If we're going to win a premiership it won't happen with Wagon at 5/8, Petersen anywhere and Webster in the team. Put your minds back to our 2001 team, these guys would be on the bench in reserve grade, Wagon perhaps still at lock

Webster is in the middle of the ruck and thats where we want gang tackles happening. We definately dont wont any one on one tackles regardless of whether it is Nathan Hinmdarsh or James Webster. Leave the one on ones for the backs.

From SMH:
Michael Witt, Chris Thorman and Luke O'Dwyer are under consideration to play five-eighth against Manly on Sunday after Daniel Wagon yesterday accepted a one-match suspension for a grade four careless high tackle charge.

Widders to lock, and O'Dwyer to 5/8.

Widders played well at lock last week.

Webster can stay on the bench.

I like O'Dwyer but he just seems to lack enough confidence and experience to make any impact at Lock or 5/8. He was very quiet against the Knights & Raiders in recent weeks but he seemed to come alive playing out wider in the centres against the Bunnies on the weekend. I'd leave him there in the centres personally. He could be the answer to the big hole that has been left by Lyon's departure [-o<

After watching two premier league games this year I'd have to say that Thorman is in much better form than Witt. And Witt's defence is nowhere near as good. I'd say Thorman named on the bench and a defensive backrower to play 5/8.
