Well they got their record RL crowd in Neath - and they got to watch a thriller by the looks of the score. Briers drop-goal decided it.

I was at the game. Wasn't a great game despite the close score and neither side played too well. Wales had most of the field position but Ireland scored some nice long-range tries to keep them in contention, while Wales lacked invention at times. Decent crowd who seemed fairly enthusiastic, I would have guessed around 2,000 so the announced figure seems reasonable.

A dull 31-30 game - just your luck eh EH?!
Briers actually kicked the drop goal before Ireland's last try, and it looked like Wales were pretty comfortable with a 7 point lead despite not playing as well as they would have liked. Ireland scored a soft try but then gave the ball away from the kick off, and Wales were attacking for the remaining 2 or 3 minutes. It wasn't dull, it was a decent game but not a classic like the scoreline suggests.

Hey there Evil Homer,

Would you say it was a good effort and good result for the Irish? or, more Wales doing enough to win and keeping on eye on the upcoming game with France?

Ireland were alright, they played quite an expansive style similar to how they played againt France and it was a decent effort by them. I didn't catch the whole game against France so I don't know if they were any better or worse, they didn't disgrace themselves and did lead on two occasions but I think it was more a case of Wales doing enough. Iestyn Harris described the Wales performance as 'scratchy' and I think that's a decent way of describing it. At times they lacked adventure and cohesion in attack, but when they did get it together they cut Ireland open fairly easily and deserved the win.
