Your right there.

Dosen't the UNsuper 14 finish in April or something. That leaves about four months when a game could be hosted with no competition from the Force

The west desperately needs an international ,pity the gb side are talking about playing a warmup game in nz during the tri nations a prime minister's 13 vs the poms would be great for wa .if gb play a warmup game in nz the question has to be asked why the arl let this match slip through their fingers oz has many areas that need the match.

I'm livid the WARL decided to relax on bringing the NRL to Perth. What's the point of bringing 2 in 2005, then going cold-turkey and skipping 2006 entirely? I believe Souths were keen to come back to play in Perth, the Broncos were keen to take a home game here (I assume it was probably a pre-season game, but it's still a game that could very easily have happened), Cronulla were keen on taking their home game against the Warriors here again, and Michael Hagan told Mum, Dad, my sister, and her best friend (when they were in Newcastle in December 2004) that the Knights were playing Penrith in Perth in the 2006 pre-season. He said that everything was in place, all it needed was a couple of signatures on the dotted lines. That's all not taking into consideration the other half-a-dozen or so un-named teams that have said they're happy to play here if some criteria is met.

On the positive side, Alice Springs is hosting the Knights-Panthers game, so that's good for their development of League ...

I completely agree with SalfordRedsWA, union wouldn't do anything for us, why should we for them? They don't appear to need a leg-up in Perth's media.

On the WARL Competition side of things, as far as I know, there is all 6 teams from 2005 competing in 2006, plus a Kalgoorlie team that will play all 15 games (plus, perhaps, the finals after that) in Perth in 2006. There is supposedly another team competing in the WARL in 2006 ... is it Port Headland? It's another out-of-town team anyway.

In 2007, the Kalgoorlie team will remain in the WARL, but they'll have home and away games (same as everyone else). Once again, I presume the other new team will have home games as well.

That's the plan last time I heard anyway. The WARL has an irritating habit of flip-flopping though, so I'll believe it when I see it.

Bloody annoying! When will the WARL/NRL grow some balls and start to tackle the competition head on instead of constantly backing down whenever something doesn't go there way? Last year The NRL was full of how the games would be part of reestablishing the game in WA and how they would help raise the profile leading to WC games in 08. Seems they quickly have lost their bottle. The force only play 5 home games I think it is and I very much doubt the 10-15,000 RL die hards that are left in Perth would chose a Force game over an NRL game anyway.

Shame on the NRl and WARL for once again building up fans hopes just to shatter them again. Will they ever learn?

2005 games lost around $50,000

The NRL did not contribute a single cent.

$50,000 is alot of money to the warl.

Its a risk going up against the Farce.

I suspect through we will see NRL back in 2007.....and depending on how the Rah Rahs go it may get the nRL off their backsides and realise without Perth they have no National competition.

I forgot about that money point. Why does the NRL bleat constantly about promoting and developing the game, then when it happens, they don't contribute?

Sure, $50,000 is a lot of money (a hell-of-a-lot more than I have, I can assure you!), but how much does the NRL make each year from gate takings, tv deals, radio deals, sponsors, ect? I'll bet $50,000 would barely make a dent on their budget. If the NRL can't afford it, then the ARL should be able to. State Of Origin, City-Country, and internationals should bring in more than enough to cover one or two games in developing regions per year. State Of Origin alone should be able to pay for them.

Enough of my ramblings.
I'm still shat off that we've been denied real football in 2006.

Considering News ltd take 10 mill off the NRL each year you would think they would invest some of that back into states without NRL to eventually sell more dishes? The more RL fans te more dishes get sold.

50 grand is a pitance to the NRL/ARL/News ltd but for the WARL that is a development officer lost and no doubt they see that as their priority. It shouldn't be up to the WARL to underwrite NRL development events like this. Gallop talks a good game but when it comes down to it he doesn't back it up with hard work. All the time they see places like the Gold coast and Central Coast as "expansion" we have little hope in West and South Australia.

Seems we still don't have enough good junior players to sustain each team year on year. I suppose until each senior team is able to run 2-3 junior teams this will be the case. Hard given the comp from soccer and Aussie Rules but we need to get more kids aged 10-16 playing the game.
