Although the Gatting ball gets the most plaudits (I guess it really confirmed his arrival on the test cricket scene) but his opening spell in the 1999 World Cup semi final v South Africa where he turned what was looming as a certain loss into a miraculous tie which meant Australia went through to and subsequently won the world cup final v Pakistan. His ball to remove Herschel Gibbs was of the same calibre as the Gattting ball but it was produced at the time it was most needed.
He was a champion, the like we’ll never see again in our lifetimes. RIP LEGEND.
