Des Hasler's fall from grace has to be historic in Rugby League terms. Here you have a multi premiership winning coach who will now be remembered most for vandalizing a club to the point of bottom 4 irrelevance for close to a decade, probably.

Bit harsh to lay all the blame on Des, especially at a Club like the Dogs where I suspect every tom, dick and harry wants their finger in the player recruitment decision making. Swapping Graham for Sharon was incredible stupidity though and whoever was involved in that decision alone wants whipping.

I reckon with the squad we had two premierships may have been underachieving in hindsight...

I'd put the majority blame on Castle. That woman has a storied history of being a financial basket case, screwed NZ netball, moved to the Dogs just before she gets caught up in it. Screwed the Dogs, conveniently moves to Union six months before the full extent of what's happening at Canterbury comes to light. Give it two years, she'll be shipped over to the Commonwealth Games committee and Union will finally be put to rest. She's like a paedophile priest being shipped around to avoid anyone convicting her.

I personally put the blame on Dib/Peponis, Castle and Des in that order. I wonder if the fallout between Dib and castle was because of the shitshow bulldogs were about to get in. It certainly hasn’t helped the bulldogs in that the coach and board was sacked at the same time.

Trouble is moving to an already financially screwed ARU,means there is SFA screwing left in the screw bank.

That's why I think it'll only take another 18 months. It's like buying a notebook with the removable paper, they do half the job for you.

Initially you thoughts were the Axis of evil - Hasler, Castle & Dib were the sole creators of this but I’m pretty sure the NRL was complicit through incompetence/ignorance.
Sure, the Dogs might argue that the cap wasn’t finalised & they were working to the initial figure but it’s nuts to think they didn’t see this coming knowing the level of back ended deals & the ones just signed - Foran & Woods.
Anyway, Des looks done, Dib would have enough money not to care & Castle is Unions problems now(hahahahahahahahahaha).

Des's record as a coach speaks for itself. If he was allowed open slather with the books, whoever allowed that to happen is culpable. As a general rule, a good coach is not necessarily also a good salary cap manager.

Des will land something sooner later. Some club will be desperate enough to give him a whirl. He’ll probably go alright too, just keep him the hell away from contract negotiations.

The NRL warned them they were facing a shitstorm but the dogs kept on spending. This is purely on them and not the governing body. No other club is in the salary cap dires like the dogs, everyone else used their brains and prepared for a $9.5ish mil salary cap.
