A massive improvement on what was served up against Manly. Still some room for improvemenmt but a far better and more cohesive team performance from the boys. For mine -
3 points: Jared Warea Hargreaves. 16 runs for 160 metres, 19 tackles and an off load or two. Came off the bench with devastating impact and kept the Warriors defence backpedalling all night.
2 points: Dylan Napa. If Jared did the damage with ball in hand, them Dylan did it in defence. Produced the kind of defensive game which he did against Souths in 2016 where he seemed to be rattling everyone he hit. Maybe got a bit carried awy laate in the match. Keep it up.
1 point: Luke Keary. His running, and then his linking up with Latrell Mitchell really put the Warriors right hand side defence in two minds all night. Great game.
All up this waws a much improved p[erformance, especially in defence. Going by the stats on the Fox sports website -
https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/match-centre/NRL20181004/stats not a single Warriors forward (either starting or from the bench) managed to crack the 100 metre mark with ball in hand. Yes they were missing Johnson and Luke, but taht should not have stopped their metre getters, and our boys shut them down far more often than not. Paasis weas the only forward to get close to making 100 metres (he made 91 off 10 runs) so it gives you and idea of how much better the defence was. Also when our team makes 9 line breaks, anmd the Warriors made 0 line breaks, it speaks volumes about the attitude in defence.
Only thing which needs to improve is Tedesco's handling. Dropped a few too many on Saturday night.
