WARRIORS: Ali Lauititi Released?

My opinion:
A few things interest me here.
1. if the Sharks are looking, damn we have done a good recruitment job to be so far under the cap. well done Sludge.
2. Lucky we didn't get Treister if we are under.
3. Are we going to release some to make way for him?
4. how will it affect retention?
5. How confident are the Warriors!
6. Will it affect Rats contract?

2. Deano would have played for next to nothing I reckon
3. Not this year but I reckon Beattie is a definite goner at the end of the season, and probably Stevens and maybe Peachey, Dallalana too and I guess some other lower graders.
6. That's the worry isnt it, I dont reckon we'll get Ali anyway so not much to worry about I suppose.

Well after Lomu, Merrit, Vagana signed the club still offered Devere a crap load to come here. He didn't take it. Only ones since then that have been signed are Mcgoldy, Saleh and Seers. There has to be money. Deano had nothing to do with money sadly I don't think.

Warriors chief executive Mick Watson is in Australia and, according to the New Zealand Herald, rumours had him looking for a new coach although the newspaper said this had been denied by the club.

"Australian club rumours also have others at the club wanting releases and that centre Vince Mellars will soon turn out for Cronulla," the Herald said.

Vince Mellars?

The news at 12noon mentioned that the Eels are in talks to sign Lauititi.

The only chance any club in the NRL has of getting ALI except us, Souths, Manly?, and Raiders, is that they would have to offer him a piss poor wage for the rest of the season and have a huge contract for 2005 and 2006. Which unless Rorters get there way is a big gamble cos it would really stuff your salary cap around.

I think Parra might be out of the running this bit is from the Australian news paper

Chief executive Denis Fitzgerald said yesterday the Eels had no room to manoeuvre under the salary cap this season, but would not rule out discussing the Kiwi forward's sudden availability with his coaching staff.

Give Bailey an ultimatum. Sign now for x or start looking elsewhere. If he wants to stall well then bad luck and offer the money to Ali L.

Having said that I reaaly would prefer we get hold of Mellars. I remember watching him in a couple of games last year and with the exception of some slight defensive lapses, he'd be fairly handy outside/inside Vagana. Sort of like having an ET/Sparkles combination again only bigger.

2UE said that the folk down Cronulla way are hoping to get him but thinks they will be disappointed.
Andrew Voss I think. ( His Kimmorley at half mail was about as good as mine that today is Peach's birthday so we must be a chance).

Good because I don't want to see him in the Black,White and Blue.

The guy is the next Jonah Lomu. Get's injured and then never get's back to full potenital.

If I was him i'd take the big money in the UK and realise i'm no longer NRL class.

Dont forget the dogs

they have 400k free...

they r playing with a 2.95 cap at the moment

next year they will be back too 3.25 and are also losing quite a few older players

I.E Glen Hughes, MAYBE steve price, Hazem El Masri

Yeah but they re worked players contracts so they cant really spend anything more on ALI. All there signings this year i believe have lots of money coming in next year and i think they have next to no cap space available next year, so write them out. Parra would have to drop Vella next year and Widders to have a good shot at signing Ali. There probably just holding talks to stall some clubs
