They're still working on the new eastern stand I believe, which is going to provide similar covered capacity to the current western stand. Capacity should be around 25K all up I think.
Are they still planning on chopping the existing Eastern stand in half and using it to replace the current Northern and southern stands?

They got two of the seating bays up on the upper eastern stand.

Maan, it is tall. Should be quite imposing when its all done.

There is talk already that it's covering wont stop the rain from getting part way up the stand. I asked the question to some of the locals and they said when the westerly gets up it will howl into that stand. So you would have to be at the top half of the stand to get any weather-protection. Especially for the price you are gonna pay. One guy who is involved with the construction also said the field is going to be shifted 8 metres toward the Western. Buggered iv I know.

Jesus, Ozbash. Get over it. How long has Carlaw Park been gone???

p.s. If you meant John Carlaw was better than Ericsson Stadium, then that comment is also up for debate.

Nothing they can do about that, it's always going to happen on the eastern side of a ground in NZ. It's probably why the main covered stand at Ericcson was built on the west side first. At least it's better than at North Harbour where the only covered seats are on the side open to the elements.
Also shifting the feild toward the western side is a damn good move, it's always been too far from that side due to the old athletics track being in the way. as long as both stands are about the same distance from the pitch it'll be perfect.
