Unfortunately I'm going to be in Melbourne for work this weekend. I've checked, the All-Stars game is on Gem but is there anywhere with a bit of atmosphere I can watch it other than my hotel room?

Where is your hotel at? The Rising Sun in Richmond is a good spot, as is the Limerick on Clarendon St. The casino would have it on as well, I suppose. The Arcadia hotel on toorak rd could be a choice as well.

It's advertised as being on Gem... Instead they're showing Australia's got crap.

Edit: They forgot to re-tune the tele street nine hd started up.

I watched it at home for good reason.

Even though I've only been living in Melbourne since July last year, I've never seen rugby league televised in a licenced venue whether it be on free to air or on Fox Sports.

It's as if Melbournians avoid rugby league like the plague. Walk into a pub or club with 20-30 TVs and you'll see horseracing, motor sports, NBL, NFL, soccer, etc. NRL....never.

The Risong Sun and Town Hall in Richmond both always have screens showing the rugby codes. The latter always has them on its biggest screens too, with the AFL relegated to a corner!
