Eric Watson has become the Vodafone Warriors’ sole owner after acquiring Sir Owen Glenn’s 50 per cent shareholding in the club.

Discussions have continued over the last couple of months about the club’s future ownership.

Sir Owen said he would continue to be a strong supporter of the Vodafone Warriors and is hopeful of an improved performance for the 2016 season beginning with the NRL Nines competition in February.

“We are grateful to Sir Owen for his support and involvement in the club during his time as co-owner of the Vodafone Warriors,” said managing director Jim Doyle.

Watson said he is fully focused on the club’s future and is excited about what lies ahead for the franchise next season and in the years to come.

“The signings we have made this year have enhanced our NRL squad helping us to put together a group of players we believe can take the Vodafone Warriors to the heights we expect,” he said.

Terms of the agreement are to remain confidential to the parties.
Is this a good thing?

The saying "the devil you know" comes to mind here. Not a huge Eric fan, but I believe that he is the best option for the franchise. No specific reason, just the feeling I have.

I can see Jim's hand in this. The very public spat was not good for the Warriors.
So now Eric has it all back hopefully he leaves it to Jim to continue the good work.
The less mention of Eric in the future the better.

well glenn always maintained he wanted to sell his share, he just wanted a fair price. so if you go by that, glenn won.

Around the time Glenn bought into the Warriors wasn't there some talk that he looking at getting his own franchise? Could he now become the financial force behind a second New Zealand team? He'd certainly now know what he was getting into and how much investment is required.
