Wayne Bennett's secret Newcastle trip on eve of sudden death final

I'm a big Benny fan, but this is unprofessional imo.

And comparing visits to your family hardly makes it any better. He was visitting his future employer at a time his focus and attention should be on the Dragons. Poor form...

Point is, this is hardly anything new. He's really not that hands on from what I've heard and is often giving opposition players and coaches advice whenever he can.

Clearly the Dragons are playing without a coach and have been for a number of weeks. The side knows it too and won't stand up for someone showing such piss poor leadership.

Sounds like Wayne has well and truly given up on the Dragons.

Bennett's nothing more than a mercenary piece of shit he knows the stains have no f**king chance of winning thats why he's focus is on drug castle.

stupid sensationalist journalism in the title..

It says "on the eve of the final"..

If christmas EVE is the night before christmas, and new years EVE is the night before new years day, wouldn't that make the 'eve' of the final tonight, not wednesday?

He knows selling Smith and Costigan for Gasnier has left him with an average forward pack that's for sure.

Rothfield is definitely a scumbag, but still pretty ordinary from Bennett.

How can his focus be 100% on the Dragons when he is having meetings with Knights players and staff about 2012, day off or not. Would any other finals coaches have spent time this week planning for 2012?

The only thing that I took notice of in the story was the extremely poor grammar of the idiot who tweeted it. That guy is a shining example of why footy players should stay in school.

That's ridiculous, there's 200 odd waking hours in a week, take out say 16 hours for training, 32 hours to watch every broncos match this year, another 10 hours to devise a gameplan and 20 hours to eat, shit, shower, etc, that still leaves you with over 120 hours to kill, let's remember Wayne is a 60 something year old man who lives away from his family, he's not exactly going to be doing much at home. The last thing the dragons need is Bennett sending the players Brian Smith style SMS messages all day.

200 waking hours in a week?

Is that you mark tufua?

Very ordinary decision by Bennett.

Forget everything else, its how it looks. Heading off to a another club with your team playing in a final in less than a weeks time without even bothering to tell your players... complete lack of respect.

Was this meeting so important it couldn't wait 3 weeks?

I hope Tim Sheens wasn't in Melbourne during the week helping Adam Blair with his training.
If you are being paid to work for a group then you can't go and work for a competitor on your day off. Promoting the game or charity work is fine but helping an opponent isn't. Ray Warren doesn't read the channel 10 news on his day off. Bennett shouldn't be coaching another club on his day off.
