Does anyone believe he is better off leaving Everton? For me I believe he is better off going to Italy or Spain as he will improve his skill level, learn another language, another culture and about European football.

He wont get that at Everton as it is unlikely they will be the CL or the UEFA Cup in the next few seasons IMO.

There is only so far he will get at the club, but he wont 'reach to the next level' unless he does consider a move.

I'n not saying he is good enough for Inter Milan, Milan, Juve, maybe Parma, Verona or even Roma?

In Spain he would be good enough Real Betis or even Celta Vigo.

Thoughts.

I don't think Wayne Rooney will ever leave England. IMO his style of play doesn't suit the game played in spain and Italy. Also it wasn't to long ago that the Everton president (name?) said Rooney will never be for sale. Whether this is true or not remains to be seen. Who knows?

Rooney is still living his dream with playing for the club he supported and making the international side. It won't be until he's about 22 that reality will set in that he won't be able to win things at Everton and won't be able to take the next step.

It's then up to him whether he is so much an Everton supporter that he can't play for another English team and so ends up in Italy or Spain, or if he joins one of the big boys in England to stay with his family and friends.

We need all the class we can get.... and he is exactly that!

I agree that if he really did want to take the next step then he would change clubs like Kewell did this season but please just let him have a few more seasons with Everton... For my sake anyway :D

Rooney won't leave Everton as he has yet to fully cement his spot in the starting team - most games he is on the bench which is something that i don't see the point in, Moyes should have him in the starting XI

Send him over the side of town. He would fit in well at Liverpool. Teenage prodiies seem to!

Is it just me or is he a little overrated? I know he is only 17 or 18 but I don't understand where all the hype comes from. Then again he plays for Everton!

Exactly, what the heck is Abramovich thinking (assuming the rumour is true which it most likely isn't). I'd much rather see the return of Mickael Forrsell before I see Rooney line up in a Chelsea kit. Adrian Mutu, Hernan Crespo, Jimmy-Floydd Hasselbaink and Eidur Gudjohnson. Spare me of the Rooney grief puhlease...

If you want a decent buy Mr Abramovich, look at getting John Terry a permanent partner at centre-back or tell Ranieri to play Gallas alongside the future English captain (Terry).

Wayne Rooney will be signed by Man Utd next season. All i know is that they have designated a LARGE amount of money for recruiting NEXT season, and Wayne Rooney is top of the list. Also dont expect to see Roy Keane there next year either. The Neville brothers ... well im not too sure about them, they are a package deal and if one starts to fade, then they both go.

HUGE changes afoot for Man Utd next season, i believe.

P.S. I think signing Rooney will be a step in the wrong direction for English football as a whole. Its bad for the game when Man U buy everyone and anyone. Spreading the talent around would help the English game ALOT more, maybe then they could look at winning serious Comps. Look at Spain ... Real Madrid hog all the quality, and Spain's national team quite simply suck. England are in the same boat. Maybe they need a Salary cap

I doubt he'll leave Everton just yet...and as for Chelsea, I think you'll find Abromovich's money will be spent on a big name defender next summer.

lol, it made for an interesting read until you said that Keane was leaving. Even when he eventually loses his first team place, as long as he is happy being a squad player making up depth we will keep him.

The big name that Man Utd are being linked to for next season is Van der Vaart, who is seen as the long-term replacement for Scholesy. However, AC Milan are also supposed to be very interested.
