Ways to boost crowds

Not just a bitching 'aww kick them out kick them out' type thread but ideas to help boost crowds.

For one, Is there a deal to be done with cityrail/sydney busses? Include public transport in the ticket price? Can make it easier for people getting to games, especially those at ANZ/SFS. Would lessen the traffic burden.

Another idea I had is take advantage of not-RL events on in Sydney. For example, the City to Surf has 80K people at once in Bondi. How about scheduling a game that day and say 2 tickets for price of one if you show your race number? Or something similar. It's a way to boost numbers for a game but could attract those who dont usually go and maybe gain a few new fans in the process.

I think the NRL need's to really boost membership numbers. That way you're more likely to attended most games.

How about INCREASING the price of GA tickets. But DECREASING membership prices by at 25%.

Memberships is where it's at.

I always thought your ticket (with Ticketek anyway) included "free" public transport.

The fixed schedule would help.

I have watched flights for my proposed Townsville Trip increase almost every week for the past month and now i am thinking about not going at all.

This week we finally find out when the game will be, yes it is very likely it will be a Saturday Night. I just can't take that risk though, with the way the Cowboys are playing and Penrith's last couple of weeks it could well be a Friday Night.

Subsidise public transport with every ticket purchased to a NSW NRL match. Have universal pricing for G/A/ Undercover seating and family tickets. That way the casual fan knows before stepping out the door that it's going to cost the same amount to sit on the hill at Leichardt as it will at Toyota Park.

I think people understand prices for food are stupid at sport, it's pretty easy to eat/drink beforehand or bring your own food.

I agree totally with RB's comment on food. I will nearly always go to Macca's or HJ's before/ after the game to get a feed. As for beer, if you go to Penrith it's awesome. Last time I went there in 2008 it was $4.50 for a cup of Tooheys New. I honestly don't get how the Panthers don't get higher crowds? I'd go to as many games as I could if I lived out there! Qlders paying $6.70 for a cup of XXXX Gold will be weeping right about now. Stupid Government...

Henson Park at $4 tinnies last week (KB Lager as well!) now thats a good price.

But i'd rather drink a decent beer in the pub beforehand than drink VB gold

How much is it to attend a game at Skilled Park these days? it was $35 general admission for a TRIAL game last year. A few of these clubs might want to look at the Bulldogs ticketing structure.

Everything mentioned in this thread is the kind of stuff the IC should deal with if it ever gets started.

Memberships is the way to go IMO. We have gone from 80k to 180k in under 3 years. 200k next year is definitley acheivable.

Priorities should be:

1. Marketing of games- learn from the swans and lions who market every single game big time.
2. Public transport included in all sfs and anz games.

We are still going steady with crowds, its not as if they have decreased in the past decade and we are on par or ahead of last season after this round is complete i beleive.
