242 target.

Opening spells absolutely crucial, if RoyStow get started and have 5-10 overs of carnage we’re pretty much dead.

Credit to England by the way, this is a 101 of how constant pressure is done.

Pitch, bowling, regardless of that it was some seriously poor batting at times.

We're just so limited in our scoring options unless the bowlers hand up pies.

How are NZ so inept at setting up the finish?

I'm sorry, but you HAVE TO KNOW the bowlers are going to be bowling slower ones and variations as a rule...

Why is our whole game plan based around putting pressure on our inept tail order to score at 12s?

Bowl first was the move as then the tempo would have been dictated to us.

I still can’t fathom why we didn’t bowl first.

It was a no-initiative move which puts all the onus on our bowling to defend not much. They have all the momentum and confidence.

Still, Malinga rattled them, who knows.

Not writing NZ off, to be fair.

Not the ideal score...but conditions look to suit their bowlers way more than the road at Melbourne and they have the sting of losing that last final to spur them on. Their strength is with the ball and if they come out like they did against India this is far from being over

I think NZ had a pre-conceived idea about 240 being a good score and didn't adapt, costing themselves 20-30 runs in the process.

They look to have decided to duck every short ball, and just noodle it for 1's and 2's to get something defendable.

Having said that, England were poor in the first 20 in regards to length. If NZ can learn from that without giving away too many 4 balls then who knows.
