WC Logo

Just saw it on the news, sort of. It looked pretty cool but I didn't see it clearly. Has anyone spied a pic of it anywhere?

Sorry if this has been posted in another thread.

Wow. That's really good. It's so good to have a logo now. Hopefully we'll see plenty of it this year and next. Worth the wait I spose.

Classy IMO.Just hope the merchandise caps, jumpers etc doesn't look like an advertising billboard.

That red/yellow/green/blue ribbon could be used to make a really classy tv ad. have shots of international rugby league games with the ribbon floating around, wrapping around the ball, goal posts, etc, then at the end have it form around the WC logo. I think Channel 9 did something similar a while ago with a blue band from the FNF logo?

Yep that would be pretty good. I reckon first off the ribbons should come from a shot of each of the flags of the competing nations to show how international it is and i reckon it needs to have players in their nation (probably in front of some attraction that people associate with the country) saying how they cant wait to play/beat the aussies at their own game. Then after that show sides playing footy.

Iknow its sounds a little corny but done properly it wont be and will show that its a global cup. And as long as its not done by the same advertising group that do the NRL's ads we should be ok

They have this logo now. It looks great. They need to get it out in the market place. Start doing cross promotions with consumer goods, competitions on cereal boxes etc. Need to get this competition, via the logo, into the minds of the public.

Remember this is a rugby league loving country. The built in audience is massive. All we have to do is get past the cynicism and mobilise that audience and this tournament could be anything.

Like Channel 10s new sport intro, where the ribbon forms a kick for goal, a golf pitch shot, and two motorbikes.

They should have an ad. Similar to the NRL ad where you see the teams in different locations, only in the WC there's NZL, ENG, PNG, France, Australia, and all heading towards Suncorp for the trophy. Wouldnt that be a good idea. :D

Yes it would be a very good idea. Not a bad suggestion at all.

The only problem with that is that the footage in the NRL ad comes from actual games. Where would they get action of England, France and PNG from? A good idea though if it were possible. I'd really like to see them do plenty of advertising in the weeks leading up to the Cup and in the ifnal weeks of the NRL. I'd like to see the logo and the trophy used extensively in the lead-up.

Maybe instead of using actual game footage, just get the players to appear in the ad. Example. Paul Wellens, pretending he's playing in an actual game, seen with the Big Ben in the background, or even London Bridge.

Well, he is good at pretending he can play, but I don't really like this use of London landmarks. It's a bit of a lie to suggest London has anything much to do with English RL.
And you can always tell when these things are a mock up and not real and they don't look as good.

I like the idea. Although have you been reading the thread about the NRL ad. Most people dont like it.

Agree that it needs to have that international flavour, but it would be difficult with not enough footage. I think having the international players in their jersey saying something bout coming to Oz will be good enough. As long as they show some footage of international games aswell.

The NRL ad could be the best ad ever made and the tw@ts on that forum would still whinge about it. That's not something to worry about.
I hate to bring up the union WC ads that were running here in 2003 but (although I really must discourage the use of any Casey Chambers tracks) the ad did a good job at selling the tournament as a big international event, full of coulour and passion, which is a pretty good effort when you consider how far from the truth that is.

The logo is good, perhaps a little bit too busy, but still very good.

What I think it is missing is instead of saying just Rugby League World Cup it should reveal to the general public that this will in fact be the XIIIth Rugby League World Cup.

The RLWC is seen as an event that lacks legitimacy, so revealing up front that this is in fact the 13th one we've had instantly gives it this history and legitimacy.
