We drop Carney... now what?

Salkeld was our Premmy league fullback a couple of years ago, then moved to wing to accomodate Hinton. Salkelds best posi is prob fullback, I was one of the people who thought he should get a go at first grade, and to be honest when he did, I thought he went well in (as everyone points out) what was a shambles of season. However I think Seage is a far better proposition at the moment, and if he stays here next season will prob get Carneys spot, he does however still look fragile when being tackled, I cringe every time in case he isn't going to get up.

These guys are professional atheletes, I don't think Carney needs to be told he's getting found out in defence. You drop players that need to regain confidence, Carney's having no problems with confidence, he just needs technique... go go knights training staff!

Considering we were supposed to be getting the worlds best winger we shouldnt have had to do a thing he should have been teaching our backs and staff a few tricks.

Certainly not vice versa.

The bloke cant even lay claim to being the best winger at the club.

But as has been pointed out with Thaiday out we cant even bring in Seage to cover him as his already in 1sts, and he is bounds ahead of whats left in our stocks of wingers in PL.

Have to agree there, he was being touted as that, and that our young guys would learn heaps just by having him here. I certainly hope that isn't the case. There are a stack of better wingers playing in the NRL.

I am still of the belief that Seage will be our winger next year (when Carney drops himself :p ) but he needs game time there, which means half a season of PL. A player must have a great attitude if they are willing to sacrifice money to learn a new position in PL.

David Seage started his senior football on the wing. He played that position for Wynnum Seagulls in the Queensland Cup between 1999 and 2001 before moving to fullback in 2002. He played for Queensland both as a winger and a fullback.

Seage has always "looked fragile" after he's been tackled. It just seems to be a quirk with him - thirty seconds later and he's back into it.

Not so much learning to do... all the better. I guess he just plays there in PL for the exp, but also as he wont beat out Thaiday or Quinn and Carney wont be dropped. Hope he turns out well.

Yeah let's drop the guy who has more line breaks than anyone in the comp and is fifth on hitups. Glad you aren't coaching the team. Carney plays the odds, and look at the game replays. He is in the middle of a three on one overlap most of the time. Who was that who scored the match winning try on sunday?

I agree with you 100%. I watched the west game again today and his defence wasn't as bad as some are saying. He constantly had 3 or so players runing at him. He kept sliding in order for his inside men to come across so it wasn;t simply a case of wests passing it and scoring. He had a blinder on sunday!
