Besides being a handy kicker, Covell is a genuine winger in the making, he is a big winger with good toe, I think he will prosper with a change of club and its a godo signing, hes a good bloke to boot.

he's as slow as some of the posters on this forum.
Has been run down every time over the last year.
Thats what conserns me as well, why would you sign someone who is as slow as a wet week?? Then again he might end up in the second row  If where all lucky this whole post is just one big gee up (I hope) and if its not #-oDoh

and from www.foxsports.com.au

"Meanwhile, the NRL's leading try-scorer Amos Roberts today signed a four-year deal with the Sydney Roosters and Bulldogs forward Hutch Maiava committed to Cronulla for two years."

Maiava confirmed.
No mention of Covell.

Born : 9 Nov 1981, Goodiwindi, Qld
Weight and height : 92kg 181cm
Usual position : Wing

Solid winger who made his first grade debut last season and currently holds the club record for most goals in a match. A superboot worth keeping your eye on. Not surprisingly his childhood hero was Jason Taylor.

Good Goal kicker, absolutely.

Good Winger with a bit of toe? Absolutely not. He'd struggle to beat a Datsun 180b going up Avoca street.

His future lies in the forwards, if at all. The question now is, who gets the shaft for him?

Could be an astute purchase. Covell is a good kicker, and could develop as a decent winger.

can't say I'm thrilled about Hutch though. Missed a socker of a tackle against Manly.

I recon they are going to axe Peachey, Simmons to fullback, Rieck and Covell on wing. From alot of articles Ive read they all point to Peachey not being offered anything, and I think this will suit having the three players above. I hope not though, I would be pissed without PEachey

I agree, for a 28 year old, Maiava needs a lot of work. For a mean looking bastard, he's a very weak defender.

Covell will bring something to the team. Maiava, I'm not so sure.

The last thing we need is more poor defenders  . Lets hope the sharks and Maiava work very hard on it, then we will have a well rounded huge prop

yeah Hutch just doesn't convince me, as much as I hope I'm wrong . Could become quite a cult figure, but to me he looks a bit overweight and slow.

Covell scored a hatrick of tries against the Eels back in round 12. Surprised he hasn't got more game time at the Tiges this year.
