If you ask me, your win sucked!!!

But seriously though - good stuff Tigers.

Great to see Hodgo and Moodie doing well.

And to the minority of Tigers fans who gave me a hard time - GET A LIFE!

Sure, you won, but gees - I live in bloody Baulkham Hills and made the trek to see my struggling team and I cop abuse 'cos we sucked spherical objects?

Let it be known I never belittle an opposition fan. I never actually engage in banter, as I enjoy it when opposition fans discuss footy with me.

But today was just wrong. I got laughed at and insulted.

On the whole though, most of you guys were very sympathetic, and I for one appreciate it.

Cheers, and good luck for '04.

Eelementary, stay strong mate. We've been through much worse times than you've had to endure. (Old Magpies fans were on the verge of insanity with 2 wooden spoons and more recently Wests Tigers fans with 4 years of failure and misery) This is a test of true character and will prove how much of a supporter you really are. You're club needs you now, stick with them, they'll come good buddy. That goes for all LOYAL Parramatta fans.

Cheers mate.

I really appreciate that there are some great people out there who can understand our pain. (For the record, I never made light of nay thrashings we have handed out to any team. It deson't feel right.)

I don't mean for this to sound precocious or uptight or anything, but it is the truth.

I don't thin anyone can really say they have gone through worse. I mean, let's think about it:

* 3 years ago, under the same coach and same basic staff and same core players we were one of the greatest teams in history

* 3 years down the track, we have imploded

* NOBODY knows what to do

* Nobody IS DOING ANYTHING about it

I have no problems losing. I really don't.

But losing because we suck AND there's no reason? WTF?

I heard on the radio this morning that we struggle because we lack quality players. To those people I say what is: Grothe, Hindmarsh, Morris, Dykes, Witt, Tsoulos, Vella, Cayless, Vaealiki, Graham, etc.

OK, they haven'ta ll been in form. Some are injured, but out of all of them, Hindy, Grothe, Morris, Dykes, Tsoulos and Vella have been part of our recent 5 week flogging period. Quality players.

Why do we suck? I have no idea.

All I really know is that I will never cease to support my team. But I can say that I am crushed - my week starts in antcipation, "How will PArra go? I wonder if we'll do well?" etc.

Like I said, lose if we suck. But the boys need to show pride, which they don't.

But anyway - kudos to the Tigers. Couldn't be happier to see you guys back in form.

I think the problem lays soley with Smith. The club and more importantly his coaching has gone stale, completely stale! a change is needed now but somehow i think its gonna get worse yet. I cant see them sacking before season's end, stay strong eel fans!

Your spot on pete - Smith has complete control over the club from of course training, side selection and even side recuitment, now if things are going bad sure some blame must be aimed at the players but most of the blame does infact need to be aimed at Smith!

I remeber last year when Hodgson was dropped and they where using the excuse of him being injured and out of form as the reasons when in fact it did go deeper very simular to why Morris was dropped a few weeks back to the bench and this week back to PL!

Brian smith goes from the greatest coach to the worst coach in three years? What rubbish. The amount of quality players he has developed proves he is a quality coach. The media always looks for a story and this one involves brian smith's job. But, parramatta aren't playing that poorly. Yesterday they did a lot of good things and could have been far more competitive had they not let themslves down with poor errors. I think they are struggling primarily with a lack of confidence. Poor form hits every team at some point, I think it would be a huge dissapointment if a coach like Brian smith was not in the league developing young players. The man deserves far more respect than he gets.

Noah I agree and disagree with you

Smith is among the best in the game at developing talent, if he was employed as a development officer/junior coaching co-ordinator he would be fantastic.

I don't think he's a great first grade coach though, I can't see him EVER winning a premiership and his personality and ego issues mean he rarely maintains any real respect from his key players (A coach doesn't have to be LIKED by all his players but respect and the ability to maintain a good working relationship is essential)

every coach has their particular talents. If a coach can develop and create a team as good as parra 2001 then they have my respect as a first grade coach. Few of the players in that side were name players before smith coached them and they did everything but win a grand final. The GF was a superb victory by newcastle, Newcastle had a side capable of such performances and on the night they turned in a brilliant display. I don't think that is the fault of parra or smith. I also believe parra are one of few powerful teams that actually keep to the cap. Their player turnover has more to do with the salary cap then players dislike of smith.

Unless you talk to a lot of the players that leave....

Playing John Morris in Premier League must surely go down as one of the worst decisions in the history of coaching! He would DEFINATELY be in the 17 at any club in the competition bar Parra! He destroyed Balmains Premier League side and I don`t think he`s off contract at years end,but if he was I believe the Tigers would improve their side immensely IF they had Morris and Farah instead of Senter and Mears. Not taking nothing away from Senter and Mears, they have been playing well, but aren`t in the same class as a guy like John Morris!

Tigers should make the 8 this season, how weird does it seem saying that!

From what I've seen of the Tigers (from Ch 9's minimal coverage) you're only losing games by a handful of points and look strong.

Prince's Origin brilliance certainly won't hurt his club confidence either

Solid stuff Tigers, impressed with the way your clubs going this year

Smith is a good coach and his record proves that. But things at Parra are as stale as a 6 month old loaf of bread. The club is screaming out for a change of direction. And it seems only the large contract payout is the only thing saving Smith right now.

Mate Hodgson and Richards didn't leave or where running around in PL because of Salary cap issues

Mogg, I Hindmarsh, Shifty, Drew, Mcfadden, Dunley, Wilson, Galea, Marsh and where do I stop .... I would say 90% of those as well didn't leave because of salary cap issues!

Drew, Hodgson, Mogg and Richards I know for sure all left because of the coach!

On top of this Morris was dropped because he questioned a tatic that Smith was using which was seeing them get lapped, the same tatic which he was nearly dropped for 4 weeks ago but Smith played him off the bench as a warning for something very simular!

I don't think they have a side that could make the 8 but in saying this the reason they don't is because of the coach they have at the moment making all the decisions at the club!

very few coaches can stay at the same club for any real length of time before it goes stale. Bennett is a freak for being the only real exception. Most don't make it past five years. Smith is in what his seventh at the Eels. Probably two too long. He and anderson should probably just swap jobs. The change in scene would probably make both better and improve both sides.
