Goal kicking is like a golf swing. A very simple thing. To make it work all you need is a sound technique, good timing and practice practice practice. Noddy has the first 2 but he obviously doesn't practice enough. He could improve.

Hilder obviously had the first 2 as well. I would love him to practice every day for the next year and see how he goes then.

that's similar to what reefy said a while ago
i reckon noddy has the practice down but i dont rate his technique or timing

thing is, there's also the fact you need to handle the pressure
and while noddy isnt our best with the technique etc, he handles pressure the best out of the current players so i'd say unfortunately he's probably our best option at the moment

I disagree totally. Noddy does have the swing. We know this because we have seen him nail them from everywhere. He just can't do it consistantly. That points to lack of practice.

but reefy again

is there a better option?

hilder was obviously right up there withthe best at the club to be thus rewarded with GK duties

but he wasnt very good

Hilder was fine.
obviously a natural swing, but was quite nervous. As was evident by the colour or lack of it in his face.
like I said last night, if every kicker in the NRL was sacked for missing a there first few shots, there would be few kickers in the NRL.

duck fact

the first time Mr H El Masri kicked for the 'dogs was in Round 4 1999 vs the Storm. He got 2 out of 4 that day.

Better fact.
Haligan has a natural, smooth, swing.
His first year as GK his average was less than 65% I think they were leather footies though.
Next year he was up in the 80's. His highest was near 90% in his final year.
Career average of just under 80%.
thats over 10 years.
You don't waste time during your rebuild phase with a kicker who does not have the natural ability to improve.
Hilder must keep the job now. Even if he kicks at 60% for the rest of the year, it is better him than Kimmorley, because he will improve.

No it's not.
I can practice running the 100m's forever, but my lack of natural ability will never even get me close to a ridiculouly poor time.
Practice is part of the picture.

Even a golf swing as use as an example I can practive 24 hr's a day for the next 20 years & I will improve marginally.

With him it is.
Yo utrying to continue your ridiculous argument that anybody can kick well as long as they practice.
hence you say, it's all about practice.
It is not. It is part of the picture.
Geez if you can't even keep track of your own arument points how can anybody else make sense of what you are saying.

No. Wrong again. In my first post on this subject I said that goalkicking is like a golf swing. A sound technique, timing and practice were the things listed to make it work.
