That's a very good point but there's a sizeable Pacific Island roster at all NRL clubs these days. It's a long way from '95 when I was watching The Footy Show and members of panel were having a lot of trouble pronouncing the names of a lot of Auckland Warriors players.
Just on pronunciation in general, how are commentators/pundits going these days? I notice Dean Whare is still Dean Far-ray. Betcha we all can't agree on here whether Vatuvei is Var-too-vaay (Rabbits Warren) or Vat-too-vii (Vautin)...or is that Vowe-tin?
