We need another Campion

...That's one huge area of difference between Australian players and our predominantly Pacific Island guys. The Aussie guys are often very good communicators (albeit in a "larrikin", tradesman-like way, but good communicators nonetheless) whereas our chaps can be quite reticent and shy...

That's a very good point but there's a sizeable Pacific Island roster at all NRL clubs these days. It's a long way from '95 when I was watching The Footy Show and members of panel were having a lot of trouble pronouncing the names of a lot of Auckland Warriors players.

Just on pronunciation in general, how are commentators/pundits going these days? I notice Dean Whare is still Dean Far-ray. Betcha we all can't agree on here whether Vatuvei is Var-too-vaay (Rabbits Warren) or Vat-too-vii (Vautin)...or is that Vowe-tin?

Kiwis tend to be quiet relative to their Aussie counterparts.

The last Captain is case and point.

I remember a game early last year when Chad took a couple of cheap shots, including some knees, and our pack of pussies did nothing. Couldn't believe it.

It would be a brave (or insane) person trying that on Chad now in front Of Paul Gallen.

I wouldn't f**k with Mutts personally- that cold dead stare scares me more than Charlie's crazy man antics. But that really just makes him a guy that people wouldn't cross individually rather than a team enforcer.

Simon Mannering - scariest forward in the NRL, strongest upper body tackling technique in the NRL. Who needs campion?

Jacob Lillyman - State of Origin Prop - Who needs Campion

Ben Matulino - Starts sometimes - Who needs Campion

Could have been hopping for the injury. Despite some odd fluffing of him around this place, Chad was flippin awful for the Warriors - no idea how he's going for Cronulla because I don't watch them when they're not playing the Warriors.

Campion's about 40 now, so don't think he'd offer much on the field. And punching isn't productive any more.

I don't see the pack as a problem - especially if Lisone, Vete or Lane develops into a top quality middle forward...

Gallen's name was mentioned and there was a resounding no here, which I thought was weird - regardless I'd still start with a quality coaching team, a game plan and halves that can deliver it... a third go forward man would be nice, that ain't a Campion though

The Campion that i was referring to and remembering the most was the guy that was the "GLUE" in the Warriors team, not specifically an enforcer or a damaging line breaker. He was the guy who was a calming influence on the younger players like Lautititi, advocating patience when less experienced heads would panic in adversity or make rushed decisions. He made the pack tick, much like Luck did. You can see in the stupid play of guys like Lisone and Gubb that they need a guy who they will respect and listen to. Mannering and Hoffman obviously dont have that connection and thats why the Warriors shoot themselves in the foot during games giving the other team a leg up at the worst possible times. If they got that shit out of their game, they would be a much better team

You have got it 100% Big Marn. I don't recall any off field shenanigans while Campo was there either.

Don't ever recall seeing any mention of it but has the club ever approached Adam Blair, Jeremy Smith or Beau Scott? Would love to see any of those boys in a Warriors jumper. They just try their guts out every week. And make all the extra efforts that mean the difference between a win or a loss in tight games.

He's a few years too old but Jeremy Smith is another who can do a good job filling this role.

We just need to play better - simple - there are a bunch of experienced and talented players there, and a coaching team - they need to fix it.
