Obviously some thing needs to change in the team. The dynamics do not seem right. What are we missing?
Take your pick at what we are missing more.

If I could recruit without overdoing it, Id get:
  • Prop - Sam Kasiano or Andrew Fifita
  • Back Rower - Dale Finucane
  • Winger - Gideon Gela-Mosby

Reality. We suck. And need to accept this as fact.

But here is the great thing. We can play holidays all year around as we don't have to schedule around finals, and saving money is good because there is no way in hell im getting around Sydney in Warriors gear. And we all get the opportunity to bandwagon on a second club every year.

So there, we need to see the positives out of all of this.

I thought of something odd today. For most of the clubs existence we've had a "star" halfback in Jones or Johnson, yet we were actually more consistent in the years that we didn't (06,07, 08, 10). Can probably add 2011 to that as Johnson debuted halfway through and was still a rookie. It's like in those years the whole team actually put in because they didn't think they could rely on one of the SJs to pull a genius play out of his arse to win it for them.

You know what we also had during (most of) that period?

Steve Price & Ruben Wiki. Along with (or replaced by) Packer, Matulino, Lillyman & Rapira.

....hint hint....

Cowboys had good and bad years for a while there with Thurston, but became true premiership material when they locked in the starting middle three of Tamou, Scott & Taumalolo. edit: and without the three of them just lost to a terrible Manly side.

Wellington, Taranaki and Waikato respectively. No decent props emerging from Auckland it seems, which means are our u20s and reserve teams are not indicative of the talent in NZ, as they are predominantly loaded with Auckland players. How far and wide are our scouts looking? Mannering is one they found outside of Auckland and is arguably one of the Warriors greatest ever.

Does the club have too high an opinion of the players coming out of Auckland? Wellington used to be a stronghold for league. Lomax brothers anyone? And when Auckland does produce a good prop they head off to Aussie.
Jesse Bromwich played for Manurewa Marlins until his family moved to Australia in 2006. Was that to give his career a boost or was it other reasons? When is the next decent prop from Auckland going to play for the Warriors. Vete, Gubb and Lisone dont make the grade in my books.

Burgess twins could be worth a look at. Tom hasn't played 1st grade this year and for the last 2 years has been playing good hard footy in the heart of the Bunnies pack. Just 24 yrs old and a big boy at 6'5-6'6. A mid-season pickup maybe before July 1st deadline???

Josh Duggan is playing the field as well. He'd be a bit of money but put him in at centre and that is a massive upgrade in what we have now.

Supposedly we've got a lot of dead-wood coming off contract this year. Hopefully our top of the line recruiting hasn't ended with the Tohu Harris signing??? Could do a lot worse than one of the Burgess twins hitting it up for us.

Apparently they made an enquiry about Jason Taumalolo. Hearty lols ensued and they have said they were just joking.

I fear NZ league maybe going through a drought in regards to depth, more specifically, young up and comers. Auckland league is fairly monitored by Aussie club scouts. Wellington seems to be as well with the Storm picking up Nelson. The rest of the country is pretty quiet. Union doesnt help and neither is our uninspiring Kiwi performances as of late. Im just not hearing much potential coming through.

How much money would we throw at Aaron Woods. Taylor sacked today. Woods off contract. What's his family situation? Any chance he would leave Sydney?

We definitely need more offloads/second phase and to stop using tackles up on plays that have absolute no strategic value.
