All the other players went and played on. I remember Ryles saying he'd play in Afghanistan if he had to. Obviously, the chance to represent your contry means more to some than it does others.
The players were given high security and they were on friendly soil anyway. IMO, what he did was a victory for fear mongering as he gave in to fear and petticoat rule.
