the most disturbing fact from that story isn't that the Hussler is 8th best in the world, it's the fact that Sirmione is 28th best in the world

Mate, I have cleaned up on the Sydney horses in Melbourne theory over the years and had a good success rate on the top notch Melbourne horses in Sydney - same as Sydney horses in Brisbane in the respective Spring, Autumn and Winter carnivals.

To each their own I suppose. ;-)
Its not a rule or anything but....
I prefer backing Sydney horses in Sydney and Melbourne in Melbourne because they're proven.
How many Sydney horses over the years have gone down at the Valley or Caulfield?
Some big names too.
Doesnt mean to say I do it all the time.
In fact I like (well I did like)backing a Hawkes horse that went from Sydney to Melbourne and vice versa.

He is a good horse running against average horses . He is in a dead patch for outstanding horses . A whole heap of top notch horses have either been affected by EI , retirement or injury . If Takeover Target or Miss Andretti had of run in the Newmarket the Hussler would have been annihilated . He has won 5 group ones against very inferior opposition . Considering the opposition 112/115 is more like the rating level . I have no doubt Light Fantastic will be superior to Weekend Hussler in there next preparations . His last 400 times are faster than Husslers and Light Fantastic was only in its first prep . It will take two years before the level recovers to its previous . Until then nothing can safely be called a champion .

Great run on Saturday by Sirmione.:?
Is there two of this horse or what?
I've got burnt by it before and refuse to back it now.
Missed out on it when it won the Mackinnon(I think it was that race at around $71)and the Australian Cup but I can live without him.I backed the horse 3 times before that run(Mackinnon) in weaker races. The horse it beat in the Australian Cup(was a bit unlucky)got beat by 4 lengths and ran a nice second on Saturday. Its much more reliable.
Watch Sirmione next run the rotten thing might win but it wont be carrying my money.

Sirmione was the biggest lay of the day on Saturday

it was a backmarker, on a tight track, and it's best form has been melb way and bigger tracks

i'd maybe think about backing it in the sydney cup if it's BMW run was good (first 3), but i'm pretty sure this horse is one i wont ever touch

Any horse that wins 5 group 1's in a season as a three year old is pretty special indeed. Ratings are always subjective. Pharlap is rated 22 I think in the top 100 horses to race in the 20th century in American and he only had 1 race (he won it by three lenghts in track record time too)

The Hustler is good when you consider his age and the times he has run. Will he be an out and out champion....only time will tell

Absolutely sh*t in today. The 1 1/2 length margin wouldn't totally suggest that but the ease of which he won does. He did it on his ear with plenty left in the tank but i'm sure there'll still be those talking down the horses achievements with petty reasons as to why they think it's not as good as what it actually is. But i bet every one potting it would love to have even 1% in it, i wonder if your opinions of him would change then? I'm tipping they would ;-)

He's a very special horse.

absolute star...did it with ease today, you would have expected Racing to Win to close in on it over the last 200m but the Hussler kept going strong

a certainty for the Doncaster if ever there was one

i think i read somewhere that they aren't going to put Sirmione in the Sydney Cup.

which is good, because i may have backed him in that race. and that would be good for you blokes to just lay it all day on Betfair and make squillions

and plus, i think i found my Sydney Cup horse in that race yesterday anyway - Pentathon

No 28 on that list (no not Sirmione) Archipenko(South African)rolled Viva Pataca in Hong Kong on Sunday.
That Sacred Kingdom(no 5 An Encosta De Lago horse)is running tonight Race 8 No 1 at 6.05pm.

Sacred Kingdom won that race pretty comfortably.
A horse who is very competitive with him in Hong Kong(also Australian bred)is Absolute Champion.
He's not in that top 50 list but in Singapore tonight Absolute Champion will go up against Takeover Target(no 39).
Wont be much between them in the betting though I'd be pretty confident Takeover Target will be favourite on the NSW TAB.
Absolute Champion was saved from that Sacred Kingdom race the other week for this.I think he'll win.

Great win by Takeover Target and even better an Aussie quinella with Magnus running second. Sad news though about Absolute Champion who broke down and had to be destroyed.

Gee i can put a mock on a horse.
That was rotten luck.
Good game win from Takeover Target though.
Magnus ran a great race too.
The WA horse was never in it and ran midfield.
Off to England now for Takeover Target.
Oliver said after the race that Magnus deserved his chance to go to England too.
There's been a bit of umming and arrhing over him going but that run may have clinched a start for him.

The third horse Sanziro ran 3rd to Sacred Kingdom last start.
Dont know for sure but Lee Freedman had a horse in Melbourne a few years ago with the same name.
It would have to be him I'd imagine.

Both Danzero's so it must be him(Sanziro).
Ran into Alinghi a couple of times in its 2yo days.

4 months down the track.
At least the Cat looked like he's back but he'll be spelling now.
Who is Australias best horse(forget the world) the Cat,Maldivian or the Hussler or is there another contender?
Samantha Miss lost no admirers today.
Hussler never a chance but ridden wrongly IMO.
Not blaming the jockey entirely either.
World rated.Doubt any are realistic top 10 contenders but theres always next week.
