Stephen Burns – General Manager - Commercial Operations

Stephen will oversee the sales, marketing and business development activities of the company encompassing brand management, sponsorship, licensing, merchandising and event management.

Originally from the Gold Coast, Stephen has spent the past 8 years in Sydney most recently as Chief Operating Officer of OzEmail and was an active member of the Gold Coast NRL bid team.

“The opportunity to play an active part in one of the most exciting start-ups in Australian sport today in the city I call home was hard to pass up” said Burns. “Leading up to our inaugural game we’ll be developing a vast range of products and services to support and promote our team” he said.

Burns has previously managed major sponsorships with various sports and arts properties including Rugby League, V8 Super Cars, Aussie Rules, Basketball Surf Lifesaving and Cricket.

Good find - no trade mark for Titans registered by them yet though. Surely they have learnt from last time with the Dolphins debacle? Northern Territory Titans and Tennessee Titans mightn't be happy.

97.3 FM (in Brisbane) this morning announced the new name for the Gold Coast is the Titans.

Titans new name for the Gold Coast

Gold Coast will be nicknamed the Titans when they enter the NRL Premiership in 2007 after a planned exclusive launch on Thursday was leaked out yesterday.

The Gold Coast NRL Investments Pty Ltd registered the domain name titans.com.au for the pending announcment that Titans was going to be the logo ahead of the Pirates.

Gold Coast were forced to change their logo and nickname following legal action from the Redcliffe Dolphins Queensland Cup side where the matter was settled out of court.

Yesterday the www.titans.com.au link went into the Taren Point Titans JRLC website but as of today nothing is on display. It will be interesting to see if the Gold Coast consortium purchased the domain from the Cronulla based club for any substantial sum.

It's exciting times ahead for the Titans as the Gold Coast prepare for another crack in the big time but now they'll be better prepared and managed both on and off the field.
