just not football business, opening a pokie den for addicts to give your their money is hardly ground breaking enterprise!
How is investing in properties that ended up turning over over hundred million dollars not good business ?

it’s a shame England didn’t have such foresight or it might be in a stronger position now

there’s over a billion dollars in property assets held by clubs and leagues clubs

most people would say that’s really really good business

isn’t betfred the sponsor of super league ?

England doesnt allow for casinos to be opened up in poor parts of cities to drain money away from the community, and quite rightly so. WA doesnt have pokies yet has some of the richest sports clubs in the country. Its just laziness of the other cities to believe you have to have pokies to run a successful sports operation.

Betting sponsorship is a secondary issue and hopefully will one day go the way of tobacco advertising.

My issue with NSWRL clubs isn't that they have Leagues Clubs. It's that they rely on gaming machine revenue from their Leagues Clubs to compensate for their inability to flog merchandise and pull a crowd and sponsors. Relying on gambling revenue is shaky at best and no substitute for having a large active fanbase that invests directly in the club. None of the NSWRL clubs have the potential to pull an average attendance of 30k and 50k members because they only represent small pockets of Sydney with about 200k people. Swans pull these numbers because they represent an area that has millions of people.

Cowboys get a 'grant' of around $2mill from the pokie den. Its no different, FC becomes lazy as the LC props it up.

Your numbers are funny

like no rugby league clubs averages 50k

are you saying we should kill off every club ?

The biggest issue with leagues club is how much money they spend on other sports

parra leagues spent over 15 million supporting rugby union and soccer clubs In their area

the arlc should create incentives for these clubs to spend more on rugby league

their is little incentive now to do so

the arlc could get an extra 50 million pa invested into juniors funded by lc if they gave the right incentives for clubs to do so

Bronco financials show that with a crowd avg of 21k, membership of 30k and strong corporate support you can earn more than enough revenue to run an NRL club. Especially when half of the needed revenue is given to you as a grant. If clubs cant achieve those targets maybe its time to ask why?

nonsense, most LC spend less than $1mill on community grants. Got to justify the social misery somehow.

In '21 eels spent $547k on community donations and $7.5mill on the FC!

Their FC generated $27.8mill, which is a positive increase since moving into the new stadium.
Membership and gate takings $5mill
Merch $800k
Sponsors $8mill
NRL Grant $14mill

It is because by law they need to spend a certain amount on local communities.

How many people are employed as a result?

Sponsorship is one of the key areas where a lot of clubs struggle to match the bigger one city clubs. Whilst the likes of Broncos and Storm have over $12mill in sponsors many Sydney and regional clubs struggle in the $6-8million range.

Cowboys do benefit from gaming machine revenue, but not anywhere as much as the Sydney clubs. Look at sponsorship revenue. Cowboys raked in $6.45M from sponsors in 2020 whereas Sharks received a miserly $2.77M. That's a difference of $3.68M. The difference is more than Sharks got from their sponsors!

Cowboys are investing in property. Over time it'll rake in enough money to cover the amount generated by the gaming machines at the Leagues Club.

Sharks get less than $3M. That makes them less than half the worth of a regional club like the Cowboys or Raiders.

LOL@Cronulla.

Sharks are the bottom of the barrel. Even someone like Bulldogs only got $3.6mill in sponsors in '21. they required $3.9 mill from the LC to stay afloat.
Thats what happens when you over saturate a market I suppose.
I've been saying for months we need to remove one club from Southern Sydney and one club from southwestern Sydney. The low sponsorship revenue for Bulldogs and Sharks strengthens my argument.

The Sharks need to be the first to go. They're making the finals and still drawing less from sponsors than the bottom of the ladder Bulldogs.

Thats ok then, cause there isnt jobs elsewhere I suppose? Must be why WA has such high unemployment.
Hey lets open meth labs, think of the employment creation.
Maybe that’s why Perth doesn’t have a rugby league club

and needs the juniors a leagues club in Sydney funds lmao

Maybe if your going to judge the sharks it’s best to when their leagues club was actually open lmao
