The interchange rule is good, the players like it. I think it will benefit some teams who have their best front row at the start but once theyre replaced the game changes.

With the bunker, I like it because it makes the decisions a lot quicker and from a TV perspective you see so many angles at once which is good.

The things I would change however is the 7th tackle rule. I thought the idea of this rule was to stop teams from negative play, purposely kicking it dead outside the 20m to slow the game down, however its pretty much anything that results in the opposition getting an extra tackle. Why should they get an extra tackle when the other team nearly scores ?

I'd like to see the amount of players on the bench increased to 6, but have interchanges dropped to 6. And when a player is off, that's it. He's off, can't come back on.

The only modification I would like to see to the interchange is a 5th man on the bench who is a sub in case of injury i.e. the substituted player cannot go back on.

It sounds good, but that could be milked massively.

Plenty of people saying this last year. Would love to see it become an outside the 30m or 40m line rule, similar to the rule in rugby union (which gives a scrum from where the ball is kicked, i think is kicks in from the equivalent of the 40m line)

If a player gets injured and can't come back on, then he can be replaced by one of the 4 guys off the bench

Yeah I'm with ya. The play the balls and reduced interchange has made it a very different game in some respects. You look at the scorelines from the first round and they were mostly higher scoring games. I wonder whether this is going to be the standard now. It will be interesting to see if the coaches come up with new tactics. Des the innovator has already played a hand with his anorexic forward pack.

In regards to the scrum shotclock ... since the scrum is a stupid spectacle anyway, I'm hoping it is a transitional step towards getting rid of it for good and replacing it with a simple 30 second break in play (since the only remaining defence people have for the scrum is that the player require a rest).

Obviously... but you are down to 3 men on the bench which is my point. The proposed rule looks too easy to exploit so there would need to be tight restrictions on it.

Its a hard game. If you can't handle injuries, dont play.

RLPA has some valid points. This isn't one of them.

So we carry a 5th player on the bench in case someone is permanently injured and can't come back on? So teams who suffer an injury aren't down to 3 players on the bench? But what if a team suffers 2 game ending injuries? Or 3 game ending injuries? Do we have a 6th, 7th, 8th fresh reserve just in case? Or do we only have the 5th reserve and if any other injuries are suffered then you are down to 2 or 3 on the bench?
Then you have the problem of teams faking injuries to get a fresh player on to closed out the game etc...
4 man bench, injury replacements come from there, 8 interchanges (with a look to dropping it to 6) is probably the simplest and best system to go with

Buy players that are renowned for not handling injuries or make a habit of being in the wrong place at the same time . . . stiff shit

completely disagree scrums provide an opportunity for backs to be 1 on 1 just because teams dont use this opportunity 100% of the time doesnt mean it isnt important and beneficial
how many times do you get nervous when the opposition team has a scrum 10m out when they are two behind, maybe you dont understand because you havent played the game but it is underestimated how much of an advantage a scrum is, especially close to a teams line
