I'd like to kick 2004 off with an optomistic post.
I feel that this is our year,we can take this game by the balls and win our first premiership.!
All the drama is behind us and the only way is up.....
Happy New Year ,and may it be even happier for all Sharks fans on the 3rd of October 2004! :!: :D

Just thought i'd mention that the above post by schooner of new was the 10,000 post in the cronulla section.
Good work shark fans, but you will always be second to the Knights section of course.

Yep. Anderson said year No.3 was `the one'. So come on Rapes, we're all behind you to pull this one off.
Yep, it's good that we're right up there, Roopy. But I do feel that it may be due to the `wrong reasons'. Let's trust that everything that all posts this year are for the `right reasons.'

Go you Sharkies!!! Who knows, if the boys chalk up some wins early on they could surge towards the premiership.

As for the Roosters, they're in a bit of trouble with an ageing Brad Fittler steering them around. :p

I wouldn't hope that it would have to come down to one of Michael Sullivan's spectacular field goals which was displayed against Parramatta, or was it a grubber kick?

Sully did that so that the team could retain possession so as to stop Parramatta scoring.

Your idol Chris Anderson thought that was a great laugh, and so did I, so I guess me and Opes agreed on something.

The whole of 2003 was a joke for the Saints as far as I am concerned. All those opportunities and players and still no glory.

And please, dont hit me with the injury bullshit. We've heard it all before.

and scum fans thinking that they will finally actually win a premiership is always pretty funny

Rugby League will never become big in Greece or Morocco. :p

The way the game has been administered over the years I guess we can consider ourselves lucky that it is big in Sydney and Brisbane. (But the way the Lions are going in Brisbane, that's even extremely doubtful there.)
It's a crying shame to see elements of the`Greatest Game Of All' continually trying to bring the game down. Unfortunately, the `Greatest Game Of All' is only great on a couple of dots on the map. A crying shame, for with the right leadership Rugby League could have been anything. With the continued self-interest and selfishness, I believe it's extremely doubtful that our beloved game will survive the 21st. century. :(

Sadly popper....I'd have to agree

AFL is just as big on the Sunshine Coast and it seems with the lions success they will take over as the no! team(if not already) up here

Popper and CS,

Not quite like on the Gold Coast. Junior league is alive and very healthy. I'm associated with the mighty Burleigh Bears and in the juniors - under 7s to 16s we have 35 teams for this year. Most age groups have two if not 3 teams. Watch for one of boys next year - Dimitri Pelo. Had an ordinary game in the GF up here but I can tell you having watched him from school boys through to the Qld Cup, he is a very exciting prospect. Can score a try and hits fairly well in defence too.
