First time since the merger we have a real coach that isnt on the way out of his career.

Taken two crappy rosters to finals.
DalyM coach of the year.
In touch with players.

I hope to god the board is serious about letting him have control over things.

This week is a right off, lets see what happens the week after.

Hes stuck with our roster, so Im not expecting massive things. Maybe just a little more commitment and some announcements on signings in the next few weeks.

Lets see how this pans out.

Sheens was fantastic 2003-2006. After the 2007 season he should of walked or been sacked. It was laughable that he couldn't take a team that won a comp in 2005 to a finals series in at least 07 (I'll give him '06 with injuries) yet he kept the reigns for another 5 years.

Shredder, just feeling his way this year and cant expect miracles from him.
With freed up cash(if the 4 dont sign) we have a heap of cash to buy some decent players.
He will know what players are needed...
There wont be any buys like Edwards,Lovett Rankin or Grace Jones....you wont see those guys in 2018
2018 will have a different look team wise.

I reckon he puts up the same team as last week against the cows - tells them to play for contracts, then see what happens.

He seems like a real straight shooter - these guys need him whether they know it or not.

I agree, can't see him being taken lightly and can't see the players not respecting such a strong figure also. He probably can't change our results in a week but one thing we could see a change in is attitude

I'm stoked. Sheens was fantastic for a couple of years until he turned into the Sheenius. I think Potter was fine and deserved more time. Taylor was just real bad. I reckon Taylor has pushed us backwards significantly. I think now we have a coach who can get the job done and I think he will be given some support. I think Taylor was given way too much support.

How different is he coming in stating he is stoked and that the team can do really well but we have some problems that need to worked on. He didn't come in and blame the muppet for putting us into this situation.

Now though he has to deliver. I don't expect to win the comp this year but I do expect the right decisions to be made. If the big 4 want to keep playing games with us I say let them go. If any player manager tries to screw us over don't deal with him. So I'm confident but he needs to do the job which to me comes down to just making good decisions slowly and surely over time.

I'm banking on Cleary showing the major league dickhead Isaac the fraudster moses that he has no say in how we go about our business !!

This is what Cleary needs to do asap:
1. Re-sign Tedesco, Nofo, Woods and Ava at what they are worth. Tedesco is worth a million, Woods maybe 700k etc
2. Offer Brooks or Moses a decent contract. We can't carry both of these players any more, I think its better for everyone we just re-sign one and let the other go. I don't want to give up on both of them, I think we should just concentrate on developing one.
3. Sign an experienced half. No idea who.
4. Put all remaining players on notice. If they don't show strong performances or even commitment then they won't be offered a new contracts
5. Sign 2 props (Mautilino and Evans), an 80 min back rower (Mcqueen), a Centre (Hiku?) and a winger (not sure who)

If we can put a strong roster together for 2018, and with Cleary having enough time this year to get the feel for the player and put his structures in place, we should be in good shape

Well if reports are true and the salary cap doesn't go up as much as expected then a number of quality players may come onto the market as clubs have reportedly budgeted over the new cap limit for next season, this should benefit the WT if they play it smart.

BJ05 - I don't think we need that much more players. I wouldn't bother with props. We have heaps of props and depth in that position. There is no way I would be signing any player other than Tedesco for $700k or more.

I'd get a winger who is a gun for the left hand side. I'd look for another centre but I'd think about putting Suli to the right side now to see if we can sort that side out. Then I'd look for a backrower who is a gun on the right side.

I'd pay good money for a right edge backrower and a left winger but they both have to be quality. Then if we need another centre go out and get one.

Re sign Tedesco on say $800k. I'd push this a little higher but don't go crazy. Offer Brooks and Moses heaps less than this and if they don't stay just go into the market. I feel the same way about Woods. It's a business now and the guy isn't worth any where close to $700k.

Look at who we have to play up the middle:-

8. Ava
10. Grant
13. Taylor
14. Felise
15. Aloiai
16. Tatola

Edited: I forgot Sue here as well.

I hope Woods stays but it's clear that we aren't desperate for middle forwards now. If we could get someone like Coen Hess or someone at that level on the edge we would be a much better team.

Sheens was exactly what we needed in 2003, similar to how Ivan is what we need now. Tim should have been sacked after the last round debacle in 2008. Whilst he again had success with us in 2010/11 we still fell short with an extremely talented side, probably the best not to play a GF in recent memory.

Anyways onto the present, finally something to look forward too. For only the second time in Wests Tigers history we've hired a coach with a proven track record. 2/6 ain't bad I guess.
