Benji Marshall is the only Polynesian currently in an NRL head coaching position, while 53 per cent of Wests Tigers NRL squad and 60 per cent of the club’s NRLW squad have Pasifika heritage.

More sponsors are jumping on board.

Wests Tigers sign Zurich Australia to long-term partnership

This is interesting isn't it. It's a really good sign for the club. They just have to start winning games and not having any bad press. Players have to keep their shit together in this day and age unless they play for Brisbane, Melbourne or the Rorters.

TBF, where I live now, I don’t go to games.
But how many games, do you get in a preseason trial to charge this amount of money?
If attendance is down, they will know where to look.
All the prices didn’t show up, but a 5-15yo, is $30.
That’s ridiculous.

I have a pretty good condition RL week from mid '69 in a plastic sleeve somewhere...I should dig it out and put it with the Benjigraphed jersey I got as a thank you gift...wherever that is..hmm
* and I bought that RL week at a ground somewhere with my own pumping petrol on the weekend money

For the Balmain fans
I didn’t realise that the sharks were playing back then, when did they come into the comp.

They joined a couple of years prior in 1967 along with Penrith . I can vaguely remember the announcement on the radio, probably 2SM :)

I'm so rapt that we have a solid, no nonsense CEO.
I'm wondering if the Bateman release plus all the signings and sponsors jumping on board would've happened if the old administrators were still running the show.

No doubt we wouldn’t have signed any quality players plus Bateman would’ve received an upgraded contract & Brooks would’ve been enticed back to concord on a 7 digit annual salary if the imbecilic Pascoe megalomaniac Hag & degenerate Sheens we’re still in control

You forgot to throw in your love for the player's agents who they would have licked their bottoms for :)

He has done a great job overall. We just have to start winning games but that is on the coaching staff and the players. We have a good squad and our sponsorship seems great.

Bring on next season.

As I've said....we do spoon off-seasons with more pinache than anybody ....what other triple spooners could sign 8 players they went after including 3 or 4 few hi rollers and have premium sponsors jostling for a spot?! ....and on top of that have a feeling around the club as if '24 was a rousing success! Quite extraordinary really. It must burn our fellow spooners from recent years up no end!! Lol

‘We just couldn’t afford to keep paying him’: Tigers explain Sullivan Souths switch
By Christian Nicolussi and Michael Chammas
Updated December 19, 2024 — 5.41pm first published December 16, 2024 — 2.56pm

Jayden Sullivan has become the second player to exit the Wests Tigers in as many days after club officials determined it was “bad business” to keep paying a back-up playmaker $700,000 a year.

A day after forward John Bateman left the Tigers for North Queensland, despite having two years to run on his deal, Sullivan inked a one-year deal with South Sydney.

Sullivan stood to earn $2.1 million over the next three years at the Tigers, but became surplus to requirements once Jarome Luai was recruited to play alongside boom five-eighth Lachie Galvin.

Tigers chief executive Shane Richardson confirmed Sullivan had agreed to spend next year at Souths, but had a new contract in place at the Tigers for 2026 and 2027.

“The only reason we’ve let Jayden go is because you can’t have him on that money when we’ve signed Jarome,” Richardson said.

“Once we signed Jarome, it was always going to be difficult to carry Jayden on the money he was on. There have been no issues with Jayden, we just couldn’t afford to keep paying him what we were paying him.

“He didn’t start the year well last season, but I will say when Jayden got dropped, nobody put in more than he did in reserve grade. He didn’t drop the bottom lip.

“He’s also come back to pre-season training 12 kilograms lighter. He looks a million dollars, and I’m sure he’ll put pressure on the halves at Souths. We needed room in our cap, and Jayden understood that.”

Richardson said Sullivan’s original deal had been cancelled and a new contract signed for the 2026 and 2027 seasons under which he will earn the salary he would have pocketed under his original deal.

“Obviously if he gets exposed and plays regular first grade, he might attract interest and have a chance to land a better deal; we’re open to letting him go if that happens, and he knows that,” Richardson said.

Four-time Penrith premiership winner Luai has arrived at the club on a five-year $6m deal, while Galvin, who is also locked into a long-term deal, will be the starting No.6. The Tigers view Latu Fainu as their back-up playmaker.

Souths have signed Lewis Dodd from England, with Cody Walker their five-eighth, but needed a back-up playmaking option following Lachie Ilias’ exit for St George Illawarra.

With Bateman looking for a fresh start at the Cowboys, the Tigers have two spots to fill on their roster. Richardson expected a train-and-triallist to be upgraded to a full contract, but would hold fire on what to do with their final slot.
